Biography

Edna Mae Johnson was born on 7 September 1922 in Cumberland, Allegany, Maryland.2,3 She and Paul Kemp Jones, Sr., were married on 8 December 1945.1 She and Archer Hamilton Fenlaw, Jr., were married in 1964.2 She died on 29 October 2011, at age 89, in Richardson, Texas.2,1 She was buried in Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas, Texas.4
Edna Mae Johnson Fenlaw of Richardson, Texas went to live her "true life with the Lord" on Saturday, October 29, 2011. She was born September 7,1922 and raised in Cumberland, Maryland on a dairy farm with five siblings. She worked all of her adult life, as bookkeeper, secretary, administrative manager, and real estate agent, until age 80. She was married to Paul K. Jones Sr. of Pennsylvania and had three children, Paul Jr., Janet, and Virginia. After living in the mid-Atlantic states, in 1959 she moved to Richardson and has remained in the same house until now. In 1964 she married Archer Fenlaw and welcomed daughter Ann. Edna Mae was always active in her church, working with a servant's heart as a teacher, WELCA member, Social Seniors leader, Stephen Minister and on North Texas Via de Cristo #10; her faith was the grounding of all her life and she taught her children love and grace by example. She liked to travel,enjoyed outings with friends and loved family gatherings. Her sense of humor kept family events lively and was passed along to children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by brother Harry H. Johnson Jr., son Paul K. Jones, Jr. and wife Sarah, daughter Janet Kraatz and husband Joe, daughter Virginia Gillespie and husband Douglas, daughter Ann Sookdeo and husband Rudy; grandchildren Nicole Jones, Amanda Jones, Paul Constantine, Robert Constantine, Jacob Gillespie, Daniel Gillespie, and Joshua Sookdeo, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Monday, October 31, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas. Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday November 1, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Restland Memorial Park. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday November 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Richardson. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 1210 W. Belt Line Rd, Richardson, TX.

William Leo (W.l.) (Tex) Reid, Sr., was born on 20 July 1920 in Tyler, Smith, Texas.2 He and Margaret Laura Johnson were married on 8 August 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He died on 15 September 2013, at age 93, in Richardson, Collin, Texas. He was buried in Restland Memorial Park (Plaza), Dallas, Dallas, Texas.3
Coast Guard.4 William Leo (W.l.) (Tex) Reid, Sr., was a Ford Motor Company/ Typesetter/ Custom Home Builder.4 September 15, 2013 surrounded by his three children. He was born on July 19, 1920 in Tyler, Texas to Elmer and Dora Reid. After graduating from high school, W.L. enrolled in the Coast Guard and served for six years. He married Margaret Laura Johnson in 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1946, they moved back to Texas where they actively worshipped at First Baptist Church in Richardson. W.L. worked for Ford Motor Company in their assembly plant and was also a typesetter at The Dallas Times Herald and The Dallas Morning News. In 1965, W.L. began a career as a custom home builder. He built many homes in North Dallas, Richardson and Plano over the next twenty years. W.L. and Margaret enjoyed traveling all over the world and especially liked going on mission trips and fishing excursions. He retired and they moved to Tyler, Texas for the next eleven years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, tutoring children and was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2005, they moved back to Richardson, TX and returned to their church family at First Baptist Church. They enjoyed many more years living near their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and long-time friends. W.L. is survived by his children, Bill Jr., Bob and wife, Olena, and Joy White and husband, Jon, all of Richardson; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Glenn Reid and sisters, Jerry McMenamey and Beth Allen; and by numerous nieces and nephews. W.L. was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Reid; his parents, Elmer and Dora Reid; sister, Myrtice Watson and brother, Elmer Reid. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 17. A private burial will be followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 18 at First Baptist Church in Richardson, TX, 1001 N. Central Expressway.

LAVALE- Edna Belle (McFarlane) Johnson, 80, died Thursday at the West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth S. McFarlane and Samuel B. McFarlane Sr.; her brother, Samuel B. McFarlane Jr.; and sister, Ruth M. Thrasher.

Surviving are her daughters, Cynthia A. Kelly and husband William of Berlin, Pa., and Linda J. Bailey and husband Stephen of Roanoke, Va.; granddaughters, Christine Miller and husband Dean of Shippensburg, Pa., and Tammy Watkins and husband Eric; and a great-grandson, Connor Watkins, all of Millsboro, Del.

Since her retirement from First Federal Savings and Loan in Cumberland, she enjoyed creating beautiful flower gardens, the Cumberland Garden Club, collecting angels and crafting of all kinds. Some of her proudest moments were graduating valedictorian of her 1944 Central High School class in Lonaconing and singing in the “Hep Cats.”

The family wants to thank her very special friend, Jenny Decker and her husband Donald for their continued support and care, as well as many other members of the Cumberland Garden Club.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 28, 2006, at the LaVale United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Bring a bouquet of flowers from your garden for a celebration of her life.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Cumberland Garden Club or the LaVale United Methodist Church.
