4 Ardeen R. "Dean" Nonamaker, 83, of Loveland, formerly of Greeley, died Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Hospice Care Center at McKee Medical Center, Loveland.
He was born Aug. 22, 1921, on the family farm outside Cedar, Kan., to Arthur and Bertha (Kelling) Nonamaker. He was one of eight children.
On Feb. 6, 1948, he married Donna Maris in Denver.
Mr. Nonamaker attended school in Cedar and enlisted in the Navy in 1938. He served in the Pacific Theater in World War II on the submarines USS Sandlance and the USS Sea Devil and was awarded the Bronze Star. After the war, he graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. He owned an electrical contracting business, Circle D Electric, in Greeley for many years.
Always putting his family first, Mr. Nonamaker enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed creative building, playing cards, travel, raising tomatoes and carrots and helping others. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
Survivors are his wife, Donna of Loveland; two daughters, Karen Brigando of Petaluma, Calif., and Nancy McNay and husband Jim of Sterling; four grandchildren, Terra and Kaila Brigando, both of Petaluma, Heather Lechman and husband Rick of Firestone and Michael McNay of Greeley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters and a son-in-law, Arthur Brigando.
Graveside services were at Tuscola Township Cemetery in Tuscola, Ill.
