FUNERAL TODAY

Funeral services for Lee H. Armstrong, 41, of Minneapolis, who died Thursday at the Veterans' hospital will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakewood chapel. Burial will be in Lakewood cemetery. Born at Pine City, Minn., Mr. Armstrong had been a resident of Minneapolis 31 years. He was a member of the Fifty-fourth Pioneer infantry and served overseas from October, 1918 to March, 1919. He was a member of Bearcat post of the American Legion, Voiture 45 of the 40 and 8, Woodrow Wilson post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Flour City pup tent No. 2 of the Military Order of Cooties, and was one of the organizers of the veterans' hospital post of the American Legion. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Armstrong, and a brother, Arthur C., all of Minneapolis.

Aberdeen: Memorial service for Donald P. Snover, 77, of Aberdeen will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1708 8th Ave. NE. Pastor Deb Grismer will officiate. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. He died Sept. 1, 2009 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital at Aberdeen after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Donald P. Snover, son of Paul and Dorothy (Gubin) Snover was born April 8, 1932 on his grandparent's farm near Stratford, S.D. He was raised in the Stratford area and helped on the family farm. In January of 1951, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in February of 1953. He was united in marriage to Donna Lohnes on May 6, 1956 at Ipswich, S.D. For 33 years, Donald worked for John Morrell retiring in October of 1988. Survivors include two sons, Rick (Sheila) Snover of Mina, S.D. and Mike (Laura) Snover of Aberdeen; two brothers, James (Marcia) Snover of Bath, S.D. and Dick (Margaret) Snover of Watertown, S.D.; one sister, Janis (Don) Munsen of Aberdeen; two grandsons, Ryan (Tania) Snover and Tyler Snover; one granddaughter, Nicole (Travis) Bukaske;, three great grandchildren, five nieces and nephews, and one special friend, Carson Simes.
