Violet Lorraine Swearingen was born on 21 March 1926 in Shell Lake, Washburn, Wisconsin.1 She and Charles Sydney Reeves were married about 1944. She died on 16 May 2011, at age 85, in Genoa, Cayuga, New York. She was buried in Genoa Rural Cemetery, Genoa, Cayuga, New York.

GENOA - Violet Lorraine Reeves, 85, of Genoa, passed away peacefully Monday, May 16, 2011, at the Groton Nursing Facility. Lorraine was born March 21, 1926 in Shell Lake, Wis., a daughter of the late Andrew Nelson and Edith G. (Cheney) Swearingen, and had been a Genoa area resident for most of her life. She was a devoted wife and mother who assisted her late husband, Charles, in operating a family farm. Lorraine was a woman of strong faith and had attended the former Pleasant Valley Church, Faith Assembly of God in Poplar Ridge and the Groton Assembly of God. She had been a volunteer with various local groups and was active with the Instant Aid rummage sales for many years. She loved square dancing, gardening, crocheting and crafting and to play cards. Surviving is a son, Chuck (Thelma) Reeves; three daughters, Gertrude 'Judy' (Douglas) Davis, Joan (Ron) Addy and Joyce (Boyd) Davis, all of Genoa; 11 grandchildren, Eric Reeves, Marianne Ridley, Mark, Shannon and Jody Davis, Heather White, Paula Poyneer, Jennifer Stevens, Lorraine Ward, Wendy Davis and Kassie Albino; 21 great-grandchildren; five brothers, William (Ella) Swearingen, of Groton, John Sr. 'Jack' (Helen), of Moravia, Donald (Ruth), of Ithaca, Charles (Ruth), of King Ferry, and James (Nancy), of Leicester; two sisters, Rose Marion, of Lansing, and Sally Hunt, of Ithaca; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles S. Reeves Sr. on Jan. 23, 1988; and by a sister, Helen Swearingen. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Groton Assembly of God. Interment will be in Genoa Rural Cemetery. PLEASE NOTE CORRECTION TO LOCATION FOR FRIDAY. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 10117 Route 90, Genoa, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the church, prior to the service.
