2 John E. Dillon, 71, of 1462 Madison Pl., died unexpectedly Friday in the Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pompton Plains, after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, he came to the Unitied States 60 years ago, residing in this borough for the last 20 years.
An Army veteran of World War I and II, he was employed as a pastaurizer for the Borden Milk Co. of Newark, retiring six years ago. Mr. Dillon was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Pompton Lakes.
The funeral was held today from the Richards Funeral Home, 4 Newark Turnpike, Riverdale, folllowed by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Mary's . Interment was in the Pompton Lakes Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, the former Carrie Chammings; two sons, James and Thomas both of Pompton Lakes; three daughters, Mrs. Patricia Syr of Paterson, Mrs. Susan Broderick of New York City and Miss Kathleen of Boston Mass. and one grandchild.
