2 U.S. Army- WWII. OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2005, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home with burial to follow at Methodist Church Cemetery in Melville for Mr. James Clifton Nations, 80, who died Friday, April 15, 2005, at his residence on Little Teche.
He was born June 8, 1924, in Fair Oak Springs, Miss. A retired logger, he served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the Army, he received a Purple Heart at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a longtime resident of Melville and an avid fisherman and hunter.
Mr. Nations is survived by two sons, Preston Nations and his wife, Darlene, of Plaisance, Robert "Mark" Nations, of Port Barre; one son-in-law, Noah Dupuis, of Port Barre; two daughters, Linda Dupuis and husband, Ken, of Coleman, Texas, Leah Dupuis and fiance, Jimmy Carriere Sr., of Port Barre; two step-daughters, Liz Curnutt, of Youngsville, Diana Noel, of Krotz Springs; two sisters, Lucille Hooks, of Hixon, Tenn., Ethel Nations, of Natchez, Miss.; eight grandchildren; June Ellis, Theresa Stelly, Amy Ezernack, Shane Nations, Chris Nations, Derrick Dupuis, Fulton Dupuis and John Dupuis and 11 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Preston Nations and Etta Watson Nations; his first wife, June Duran Nations; second wife, Mary "Bootsie" Guy Nations; one son, James Charles Nations; one grandson, Brandon Jason Nations.
Pallbearers will be Shane Nations, Chris Nations, Derrick Dupuis, Fulton Dupuis, John Dupuis and Jim Carriere Jr..
Visitation was observed from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005, and will continue from 8 a.m. today, April 18, 2005, until time of services. The Rev. Kenneth Chapman will be officiating the services.
