Gertrude E. Reeves, 81, of North St., Genoa, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.

Gert is survived by her five children, Barbara Ashley of Groton, Blair R . Reeves (Lucia Ferro) of King Ferry, David (Roberta), Sidney (Sharon) and Gregory Reeves of Genoa; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers; three sisters, and a special friend, Bernard Riester.

She was predeceased by her husband, Blair L. Reeves, and by a brother.

A graveside service will be held in Genoa Rural Cemetery, in the spring . There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Genoa Volunteer Fire Dept. Rescue Fund, Box 82, Genoa, NY 13071.

Reeves, David L.

Genoa: David L. Reeves, 62, of Genoa, passed away Saturday, February 15 , 2014, at his home. David was born July 20, 1951 in Auburn, a son of t he late Blair and Gertrude (Barron) Reeves.

He was a lifelong Genoa resident and graduate of Southern Cayuga Central School. David had been employed by the Town of Genoa as an equipment operator and as the Genoa-King Ferry Water District operations manager, before retiring in 2006 after 31 years of service. He afterwards was employed for six years as an equipment operator for Willet Dairy and also operated his own lawn care business. He was a past member of the NYS Rural Water Assoc. and was a Life Member of the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as an Assistant Chief from 1980-1983, and as department Chief from 1984-1987, and from 1989-1994. David was an avid hunting enthusiast. He was a member of the Moravia Bow Hunters Club and t he National Wild Turkey Federation, and a Life Member of the Lansing Bow Hunters Club. "Crockett" had bagged trophy game in the Northeast and Canada, and he had enjoyably traveled to pursue big game in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming during former vacations.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Roberta Leonard Reeves, whom he married July 15, 1972; his sister, Barbara Ashley of Groton; three brothers, Blair "Rick" (Lucia) of NC, Sid (Sharon) and Gregory of Genoa; his mother-in-law, Barbara Leonard of Genoa; several nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews; and by his beagles, Bubbles and Squirmie.

A private graveside service will be held in Genoa Rural Cemetery in the spring. There are no calling hours. Contributions in David's memory, may be made to the Genoa Fire Department Rescue Fund, PO Box 82, Genoa, NY 1 3071, or to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, N Y 13021. Arrangements are with the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Genoa.
