Francis S. Hunt was born on 7 September 1922 in Standing Stone, Bradford, Pennsylvania.1,2 He and Edith Ida Corie were married on 1 June 1946 in Towanda, Bradford, Pennsylvania, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.3 He died on 12 August 2018, at age 95.1 He was buried in Bradford County Memorial Park, Towanda, Bradford, Pennsylvania.1

Francis and Edith were married on June 1, 1946 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Towanda, Pa., and resided in Sayre, Pa., for many years.
Francis was born in Standing Stone Township, Pa., on September 7, 1922, the son of Charles and Audri VanKuren Hunt. Following graduation from Towanda High School with the class of 1940. Francis attended Wyoming Seminary and later Ithaca College where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. Francis taught with the Sayre School District from 1955 until his retirement in 1989.
Francis was a former member of the Sayre Borough Council, past president of the Sayre-Athens Lions Club and was a member of the Sayre Elks Lodge.
Edith was born in Sayre, Pa., on September 15, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Caroline Vignola Corie.
She was a graduate of Towanda High School with the class of 1944 and continued her education to become a hair stylist later operating her own beauty salon in Sayre. Edith served as Towanda Borough Secretary for 13 years and as Sayre Borough Secretary for six years. Edith retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Towanda as chief clerk in 1991. Edith and Francis were members of the Church of the Epiphany and Roma Madre Lodge No. 1342 Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in Sayre and were past communicants of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in South Waverly, Pa.

Surviving are their children, Ronald C. Hunt and wife Deborah Maryott Hunt of Towanda, Deborah Hunt Mattison and husband David Mattison of Cary, N.C., grandchildren, Stacy Hunt, Jennifer Blake and Jessica Mattison, great-grandchildren, Eli and Gia as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Francis was predeceased by his brothers, George Hunt and Max Hunt who was killed in action in the Philippines while serving with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Edith was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Leona Corie, sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Kelsey Bellows and nephew, Frank Corie.
A private interment service will be held at the convenience of the family at Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, Pa. There are no calling hours. The family suggests that contributions may be directed to a charity or organization of one's choice in Francis and Edith's memory.

Francis S. Hunt, 95, passed away August 12, 2018 and was reunited with his wife of nearly 72 years, Edith Ida Corie Hunt, 91, who passed away April 24, 2018.

Francis and Edith were married on June 1, 1946 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Towanda, Pa., and resided in Sayre, Pa., for many years.
