Robert Johnson- The funeral of ROBERT JOHNSON, aged resident of Otterville, who was almost instantly killed on Wednesday afternoon when he fell from a wagon from which a silo was being filled, was held this afternoon. It is believed that the fatality resulted when he fainted and toppled off the wagon. Earlier in the day JOHNSON had been working inside the silo and complained of feeling unwell. He had been subject to such spells for some years. No inquest is being held. Besides his wife, the deceased is survived by one daughter and two sons.
The NORWICH GAZETTE, Thursday, October 18th 1928, page 3
Otterville, Oct. 15- Death came suddenly to Mr. ROBERT JOHNSTON of this place on Wednesday. He had been assisting in the silo filling at the home of Mr. Roy Gehring and while on a load of corn apparently suffered a heart attack causing him to fall off the load, breaking his neck. Deceased who was in the seventy-fifth year, had been in poor health for some time but able to be around and working most of the time. He is survives by his widow, two sons and one daughter, by previous marriages: GEORGE ALFRED JOHNSTON of Brandford; WM. JOHNSTON of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. ARTHUR THOMPSON, of Courtland; also a stepson and stepdaughter and seven grandchildren. The funeral cortege left here Saturday at noon and met with other relatives at the home of his daughter, Mrs. ARTHUR THOMPSON, at Courtland, where a short service was held and thence to Orwell Church for service which was conducted by Rev. W. O. Stenlake and Rev. H.S. Bennett, both of Otterville. The late Mr. JOHNSTON had at one time lived in Orwell and a very large number of his friends and relatives were present at the service. The floral offerings were beautiful. Interment was made in Orwell Cemetery with Messrs. Wm. Kennedy, L. D. Hussey, Alex Graham, T. Morden, Wilson Young and Roy Gehring as pallbearers. Mrs. JOHNSTON is very grateful to her neighbors and friends for their kindness in her sudden bereavement.
