Betty Jean Carpenter, 83, of Capac, died Tuesday March 27, 2012 at Brian's House, Davison. She was born in Capac on Saturday, November 10, 1928, the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Stuewer) Boettcher.

Her marriage to Vernon S. Carpenter was November 26, 1949 in Capac. Vernon died April 27, 2009.

Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very active for many years at St. John's Lutheran Church, Capac where she was a member of W.E.L.C.A. and the Altar Guild and she was a funeral luncheon worker. She enjoyed gardening, picking flowers and walking.

Visitation for family and friends of Betty was held Sunday afternoon and evening, April 1, 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday morning, April 2, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Capac, with 10:00 a.m. visition. Rev. Jim Hockley, pastor, officiated.

Burial followed in Lutheran Cemetery, Mussey Township.

Pallbearers were Ron and Mike Schafer, Jesse Hight, Jim, Ben and Jake Hoover and Jon and Erik Perkins.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Window Fund.

Eugene S. Carpenter, 75, of Oakland, died Friday, June 3, 2005, at Crittendon Hospital in Rochester.

He was born Nov. 22, 1929, in Lapeer, to Schley and Rhea Carpenter.

He began working as a teenager at the Lapeer A&P Store and except for a term of service in the Navy after high school, spent his entire working life in the grocery business. He was a member of American Legion Post 233 in Lake Orion.

He is survived by his daughter, Claudia of Colorado; three grandchildren, Jessica, Kai and Joshua; brothers, Vern (Betty) of Capac and Jerry (Helen) of Mio; and sisters, Helen Carpenter of Mayville, Nancy (Dale) Dillon, Joan Grinnell of Lapeer and Marilyn (Tom) Brown of Snover.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Mark Carpenter; and brother, Ronald Carpenter.

Funeral services were Monday (June 6) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Kathaleen Helen Carpenter, age 97, of Lapeer, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Kathaleen was born January 2, 1915 in Rexton, MI to Alphonse and Katherine (Lamoreaux) Jacobs. She married William T. Carpenter in April of 1931 in Lapeer. Kathaleen worked many years at Gages and Julie's, both women's retail clothing stores in Lapeer. Above all, Kathaleen loved and cared for her family. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church. Kathaleen is survived by her daughter Natalee "Nan" (Richard) Sullivan of Lapeer, six grandchildren: Kathaleen (Mike) Brown, William (Amy) Sullivan, Maureen (Vince) Garrelts, Tamara (Jerry) Miller, Natalee (Kevin) King and Richard (Michelle) Sullivan, 19 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carpenter in 1964; three brothers: Alsid, Ernest and Guy Jacobs; sister, Ruth Jacobs and her parents. Visitation will be 2-4/6-8 PM Sunday, April 15, 2012. Kathaleen's funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 16, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer, Father Douglas Terrien will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Loretto Cemetery, Lapeer. Memorial contributions may be made to Masses or Suncrest Auxiliary.
