Funeral services to be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 1992 at Brown Funeral Home, personal friend of the family, Dean Thoroman and Minister David Nelson officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday. Contributions may be made to the Kevin Donnelly Memorial Fund. Mr. Donnelly was born in Flint, Michigan March 6, 1932 and had lived in Flint all of his life. He married Shirley (Pat) Arnold in Flint July 28, 1951. He was a tool maker for AC Spark Plug for 33 years, retiring in 1983. Surviving are: wife, Pat; 2 sons, Richard D. Donnelly and wife Mary of Columbiaville, Scott Donnelly and fiancee Tess Pecan of Flint; daughter, Cheryl Jones and husband Nick of England; 3 granddaughters, Jacqueline, Samantha and Amanda; beloved mother-in-law, Louise Arnold of Flint; 2 brothers, Curwood Donnelly of St. Paul, MN; sister, Arlene Pehl of St. Paul, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by son, Kevin in 1988. He was a special man and kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed. He wanted Martha to stay off his grave and Betty to buy better cakes.

Vernon Schley Carpenter, 81, of Capac, died Monday, April 27, 2009.
He was born August 25, 1927, in Lapeer the son of the late Schley and Rhea (Alyea) Carpenter.
His marriage to Betty Boettcher was November 26,1949.
Vern served his country in the United States Army in Alaska. He loved spending time with his family and was active for many years at St. John's Lutheran Church in Capac.
In addition to Betty, his wife of 59 years, Vern is survived by four daughters, Patti (Ron) Schaefer, Capac, Kathy (Jesse) Hight, La Junta, CO, Jane (Jim) Hoover, Capac, and Lisa (Jon) Perkins, Indian River, MI; one son, Chris (Francine) Carpenter, St. Louis, MI; nine grandchildren, Jamie, Mike (Stephanie), Toni, Terry, Jessica (Caleb), Ben (Kelly), Jake, Keri and Erik; four great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Conner, Cole and Adam; sisters, Joan Grinnell, Marilyn (Tom) Brown and Nancy (Dale) Dillon; brother, Jerry (Helen) Carpenter; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are sister, Helen Carpenter, and brothers, Eugene and Ronald Carpenter.
His family honors the memory of Vern and invites you to visit and share from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac, and attend funeral services at 11:00 am Friday, May 1 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Capac, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Pastor Joan Christoffers will officiate. Burial will be at the Lutheran Cemetery, Capac.
Pallbearers will be Ron and Mike Schaefer, Jesse Hight, Jim, Ben and Jake Hoover and Jon and Erik Perkins.
