Stark Funeral Service

Age 84, a deeply loved father and husband passed away quietly Sunday June 13, 2010 in Joplin, Missouri. He was born December 13, 1925 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Marshall and Phyllis (Latham) Harris. Harold was a 1943 graduate of Roosevelt High School and spent one semester at Eastern Michigan University. On July 26, 1944 * he married Marion Brand in Ypsilanti and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2000.

During World War II Harold voluntarily left Eastern Michigan University to join the Army Air Corps proudly serving his country as a bomber navigator from 1944 to 1946. After the war, he attended the University of Michigan graduating with a degree in accounting. Harold worked for Ford Motor Company for 35 years as an accountant and controller before retiring on July 1, 1985.

On September 12, 2001 he married LaVerne Wilmer * in Nevada, Missouri and she survives. In addition to his loving wife of nine years LaVerne, Harold was the proud and loving father of four children; two daughters, Bonnie Dornbos of Ypsilanti and Brenda (Chuck) Lyons of Rochester, New York, two sons; Robert Harris of Detroit and Kevin (Rebecca) Harris of Haslett, Michigan and one stepdaughter; Kathleen (Jim) Artlip of Hunt, Texas. He is also survived by a sister Joyce Braman (Bob) Dallas, one brother; Jim (Nina) of Florida, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place in Missouri. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Stark Funeral Service 101 S. Washington Street Ypsilanti, MI. Burial of cremains will follow in Highland Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made to the Spring River Christian Village, Joplin Missouri or to Meals on Wheels. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Monday July 5, 2010 from 6-9 pm.

Bowen, Kay M. Ypsilanti, MI Age 57, passed away Monday, November 26, 2007 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born December 22, 1949 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Clifford and Mary (Latham) Hilmoe. Kay graduated from Willow Run High School in 1968 and earned a C.D.A. from Washtenaw Community College. On December 18, 1971, she married Gary C. "Butch" Bowen in Ypsilanti and he survives. She enjoyed bowling, was a past Cub and Boy Scout leader at Henry Ford Elementary in Ypsilanti and was a PTO-PTA member and officer for many years at Willow Run Schools. Kay was an avid reader, liked playing cards, boating with friends, loved family reunions, having Christmas family dinners and spending time with family and friends. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Ypsilanti. Kay worked at Garwood Industries, Hoover Ball Bearing, Paul Chapman and Son Pontiac/Cadillac and Willow Run Schools for sixteen years in the child care center, where she loved and was loved by her many students throughout the years. And for the past three years, Kay worked at the Pete Pestillo Child Development Center as an infant teacher. This is where she loved being every day, able to cuddle, tend to the needs and help develop the lives of so many beautiful little children. In addition to her loving husband of almost 36 years, survivors include- three sons, Major James R. (Heidi O�Leary) Bowen of Hilliard, OH, John C. (Kara Rich) Bowen and Gary R. (Sarah Miller) Bowen, both of Ypsilanti; one sister, Dolores "Dodie" Wilson of Ypsilanti; one brother, Richard Hilmoe of Curtis, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Bowen, Kay M. Ypsilanti, MI, age 57, passed away Monday, November 26, 2007 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born December 22, 1949 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Clifford and Mary (Latham) Hilmoe.
