Mr. John C. Davis, Jr., 79, Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House after an acute battle with cancer. He was born July 13, 1930 in Jackson County to Harriet Rose Davis (Pyle) and John Clark Davis, Sr. He was their only child. John was a life-long resident of Kansas City, calling Southern Kansas City home for the majority of his life. He was a 1948 graduate of Paseo High School. John and his wife, Shirley, were married July 26, 1951. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary earlier this summer. He is survived by his wife Shirley S. Davis, children: son, Jeffery S. Davis; daughter, Cheryl A. Davis; and son, Brian K. Davis and his partner Tammy Robinson; grandsons Nathan M. Davis and his wife Danielle Davis, Nicholas A. Davis and his partner Jennifer Thomas, and Gordon Robinson; great grandchildren: Alex L. McDonald, Caleb K. Davis, Bailee A. Davis, and Dylan R. Davis due to join the family November 24, 2009. John was a Korean Army Veteran. Returning to Kansas City after his military service, he attended Kansas City Kansas Junior College and received his Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration. After graduating, he went on to work in the claims department at Yellow Freight for 22 years. Leaving Yellow Freight, he worked until his retirement at age 75, at Aramark. John lived a private life, enjoying gardening, doing yard work, and taking great contentment in simply walking to the end of the driveway on a sunny day to retrieve the mail. He loved playing board games, and especially Dominos, with his entire family. He was a wonderful and generous caregiver. Cremation and memorial service arrangements are under the direction of Marts Memorials services, (816) 561-8181. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

She and Charles Wesley Sanger were married on 24 March 1939 in Denver, Jefferson, Colorado.1 She died on 2 April 2005, at age 89, in Scottsbluff, Scotts Bluff, Nebraska.2 She was buried on 5 April 2005 in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Morrill, Scott Bluff, Nebraska, Cremation.2,3

MORRILL - Mary B. Sanger, 89, of Morrill, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place at The Jolliffe Funeral Home Crematory in Scottsbluff. Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, April 5, at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell with Pastor Timothy Sparks officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill. Mary Birdie was born March 28, 1916, in Morrill, the daughter of Frederick William and Effie Loretta (Layton) Becker. She received her education in the Morrill Schools. She was united in marriage to Charles Wesley Sanger on March 24, 1939, in Denver, Colo. The couple made their home in Lyman and rural Morrill areas all their married life.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Brethour of Morrill, Patricia Richter of Worland, Wyo., Donald Sanger of Bayard, Joyce Lockett of Lawrence, Kan., Frieda Sanger of Tacoma, Wash., Bonnie Stephens of Springfield, Ill., and Leonard (Roberta) Sanger of Sedalia, Mo.; stepdaughter, Gladys (Jerry) Bowen of Morrill; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Becker of Morrill; sisters, Norma McCoy of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jean Ann Webb of Morrill; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Charles, Howard, and Harold Becker, and sisters, Annabelle Layton, Bertha Marcum, and Elsie Hann.
