Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday for Clarence Jason Addison, 74, retired painter who died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick's hospital after a heart attack.

Addison had been ill for six months.

A resident of calcasieu parish for more than 50 years, he was a native of Pine Grove, La., and was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Anchor Lodge 59 and Martha Rebekah Lodge No. 2.

Addison was also a member of the Rudolph Krause masonic Lodge 433 and of the Sales Street Baptist Church.

Following services Tuesday at Burke-Hammer funeral home here, burial will be in Highland Memory Garden cemetery. Rev. Ernest Walker of the Sales Street Baptist church will officiate. Members of the Anchor Lodge will conduct graveside masonic services.

Grandsons of Addison will be pallbearers; honorary pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge.

Addison is survived by five sons, Joseph E., Connie, Leroy, Arnold C. and Lloyd D. Addison, all of Lake Charles; four daughters, Mrs. J.A. White of Lake Charles, Mrs. James Fussell of Odessa, Texas, Miss Mable Grace Addison of National City, Calif,. and Mrs. J.L. Gilbert of Moss Bluff; 28 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Preston Benoit of Vinton, and five brothers, W.E. Addison of Lake Charles, N.O., E.C. and I.D. Addison, all of Beaumont, Texas, J.E. Addison of Merryville.

He owned and operated Addison Brake Clinic and Hub Cap King, and was captain and owner of the Eddie Boy fishing charter boat, He was past president of the Independent Garage Owners Association and a member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodge 165.

Survivors are his wife Leita Addison,: one son, Joseph E. Addison, Jr.; five daughters, Laura Williams and Bessie Esthay, all of Lake Charles, JoAnn John of Crowley, Peggy Pleon of Minneapolis, Minn. and Linda Wiggens of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Arnold Addison of Ragley and Connie Addison of Jenkins, Mo.; four sisters, Bessie Mae Fussell of Alvin, Texas, NIna Gilbert of Shell Knob, Mo. and Verna White and Mable G. Mr. Addison died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, in a Cassville, Mo., hospital.

A longtime resident of Lake Charles, he had lived in Jenkins for the past 12 years. He was a retired paint contractor and a member of the Louisiana National Guard. He was a member of the baptist faith.
