Age 78...Of Springport. Dean was one of 11 children born in Oakwood Ohi, to Wayne and Gladys (Stouffer) Mead. The family moved to Springport i n 1938. He was married to his wife for 58 years and they were parents t o 4 children. Dean was a High School athlete who turned down college of fers to pursue his passion for farming. In high school he was FFA Regional vice-president, and used that skill to successfully operate Mead Bros. Farm for 46 years until his retirement in 1995. Dean was part owner of Mead Bros. Exc., the former K & M Farms, and part owner of Mead Acres . His Jersey cattle won top rankings in the state for milk production and butterfat content. Dean was Justice of the Peace for Springport Township from 1962 to 1968, Township Trustee from 1968 to 1980 and Township Treasurer from 1980 to 1996. He also enjoyed family gatherings, hunting, f ishing, bowling, and jigsaw puzzles.

PROFESSOR EMERITUS BRIGGS DIES
Prof. Emeritus William W. Briggs, 64, died of an apparent heart attack at his retirement home in Mesa, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 6, 1971. He was employed at Purdue University from 1946 to 1970. At the time of his recent retirement, he was active in freshman engineering counseling.
A native of Michigan, he received his BA degree in 1932 from the University of Michigan and an MS degree in 1949 from Purdue. He was married t o Rena Raymond in 1929, and she survives.
After he joined the Purdue staff as an instructor in air transportation , he was promoted to assistant professor in the department in September , 1949.
In 1960, he became an associate professor of aeronautical engineering, and that same year joined the staff of freshman engineering. He served in that department until his 1969 retirement when he was made professor emeritus.
Also surviving are three children, Jack Briggs of Bryan, TX; Mrs. Joanne Nipple of West Lafayette, and Mrs. Joyce Spile of Davenport, IA; also t hree sisters.

Jack D. Briggs, 81, of Bryan passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at St. J oseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. The family will receive friends f rom 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 21st, with a service to start at 6 :30 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A funeral service is s cheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22nd at Bethel United Methodist C hurch in Logansport, LA. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Briggs was born April 24, 1932 in Michigan, the son of Rena Ellen ( Raymond) Briggs and William Walter Briggs. Jack served in the Air Force a s a military policeman and was stationed in Texas, Germany and Spain. After leaving the Air Force, he became a letter carrier and remained with the United States Postal Service until his retirement.
Mr. Briggs was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan. Prior to moving back to Bryan in 2012, he was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he was very active in various church actives and was a volunteer at local nursing homes. He was a very charitable man and would help anyone in need. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Briggs and a sister, Joyce Spilo.
Survivors include his wife Yoon Sun Briggs; children, Bill Briggs & his wife Shannon of Lago Vista, TX, Jerry Briggs & his wife Herlinda of Bryan, Mary Praytor & her husband David of College Station; stepchildren, James Dean Curry, Glen Allen Curry, Karen Teal, Sharon Caldwell, and Neil Beckmann; a sister, Joann Nipple; grandchildren, Ashley Briggs, Lesli Darling, Melissa Briggs, Denise Bollig, Monica Briggs, Lindsey Field, L ogan Praytor and Jessica Praytor; and 11 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Shawn Darling, Eric Chase, Gary Armstrong, Layton Field , Cody Caldwell, Logan Praytor, Tuffy Blankenship and Jimmy Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Fazzino, Bobby Belknap and Chris Bollig.

Joanne Nipple of Mesa, AZ passed away on April 19, 2016 at the age of 8 1. She was born August 4, 1934 in Ypsilanti, MI to William Walter and Rena Ellen [Raymond] Briggs.
Joanne was an avid, Bob Ross certified instructor painter, of florals, landscapes, and animals. She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping with her family. Joanne always looked forward to hunting and fishing in Wyoming and Arizona with her husband Ronald. Her hobbies included puzzles, board games and cards. She was a devoted wife and loving mother.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents William and Rena Briggs; her brother Jack Briggs and her sister Joyce [Briggs] Spilo.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Ronald Franklin Nipple; her sons Rick (Sue) Hefner, Randy Hefner and Marty Nipple; daughters Ronda (Gene) Kroeschen and Rena Pizzagoni as well as 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Rd in Mesa. Arrangements entrusted to Mariposa Gardens. There will be a "Celebration of Life " later this summer in West Lafayette, IN. Her body will be laid to rest at that time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a Parkinson's resarch organization of your choice.
