Nan Claire Dennis - Melbourne - Nan (Leach) Dennis, 91, of Melbourne and formally Battle Creek, died Monday, July 5, 2010 at home. Nan was born April 23, 1919 to Warren C. and Wave Marie Leach in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Nan was active in the hospital auxiliary for many years in Battle Creek and enjoyed bridge, bowling, travel and sewing projects. She later used her sewing skills making and selling household crafts (NANS CRAFTS) at a Melbourne area flea-market. She made many lasting friendships during her nearly thirty years at the market. Nan always had close and special relationships with her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She married Ernest E. (Ernie) Dennis on January 12, 1937. They were married fifty-four years when he died in 1991. She was also preceded in death by son, Larry E. Dennis, sisters, Betty Leach and Kathleen (Leach) Chapman and brother, Richard Hess. Surviving are sons, Terry J. of Woodland Hills, California and Ronald L.(Mary Dobbins) Dennis of Melbourne, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also, brothers, Tom Hess of Fort Pierce, Jerry Hess of Wilmington, North Carolina, David Leach of Battle Creek, sister, Mary Brigden of Battle Creek. Interment will be in Battle Creek.
