He was born November 20, 1939 in Bad Axe to James and Marion Ramage. He married Carol Van Camp on November 2, 1963 in Jeddo United Methodist Church.
Mel was a welder with Grand Truck Western Railroad for 29 years and he loved farming. He was a member of Jeddo United Methodist Church, serving as trustee, and was involved with Boy Scouts. He was devoted to his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a sincere and hardworking man.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; two sons, Fred (Carri) Ramage and Luke Ramage; grandchildren, Faith and Carter; two sisters, Bea Cox and Ardis (Marsh) Matthes; a brother, Ed Ramage; Fred (Jean) Meddaugh and Ted (Nancy) Hubbard, who were though of as brothers; and many nieces and nephews. Mel was also very close with his in-laws, the Van Camp family; brother-in-law, Leslie Van Camp; and three sisters-in-law, Pamela Dann, Brenda (Leslie) Luther and Nancy Van Camp.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Michael Kelley officiated.
Burial was in Springhill Cemetery, Avoca. Pallbearers will be his nephews.
