Biography

Wendell K. Robinson was born on 1 November 1941 in Floydada, Floyd, Texas. He died on 2 May 2017, at age 75, in Bremond, Robertson, Texas. He was buried in Bremond Cemetery, Bremond, Robertson, Texas.
Wendell K. Robinson was educated in University of Texas Masters of Education. He was a High School Football Coach. Obituary

Wendell K. Robinson 75, of Bremond passed away to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in College Station, Texas. He was born in Floydada, Texas, on November 1, 1941, to Edred and Agnes McDermott Robinson. His father was a farmer and wildcatter, while Agnes was a homemaker, and they raised a family of eight boys.

Wendell graduated from Stamford High School in Stamford, Texas in 1960. He was a member of three State Championship Football Teams under legendary coaches Gordon Wood, Bill Anderson, and Larry Wartes. He went on to play college football on scholarship at the University of Oklahoma for the legendary Bud Wilkinson and later at Northeastern Oklahoma University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He married Janie Walker on August 22, 1964, and they had a family of two sons, Bo and Ty. He later obtained his Masters of Education degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. He was a lifetime high school football coach, and went on to become one of the most successful high school football head coaches in Texas history with a career record of 224-110-4. He was the head coach in Santa Anna, Merkel, Crosbyton, Spur, Lindale, West Rusk, Bremond, Bangs, and Gravitt, Arkansas. He was inducted into the Texas High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Honor in 2002. He lived all over the state of Texas, but he made Bremond his home. He coached both of his sons in Bremond and led both their teams to a State Finalist appearance in football. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and watching his grandchildren play their respective sports, at which they all excel. Both of his sons and daughters in law followed in his footsteps in the education profession becoming athletic directors/football coaches and teachers. Bo currently serves as the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Yoakum ISD, and Ty serves as the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Woodville ISD. He will always be remembered, loved, and honored by the countless players he coached. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Randall and Ray Robinson. He is survived by his wife Janie, his sons, daughters-in-law Farah and Lara Robinson, grandchildren, and surviving brothers Duane, Dale, Jerry, Wynn, and James Robinson. He was a faithful husband, beloved father, brother and grandfather to his three grandchildren Silas, Claire, and Ellie Robinson. His grandchildren were the pride of his life, and all three proudly carry on his tradition of excellence in athletics and academics. He was able to see Silas play in a State Championship Football Game, Ellie to win a district championship basketball title in varsity basketball as a freshman, and Claire and Silas, both high school juniors, to qualify for the State Track Meet just this past week, both at the 3A level. We know Pawpaw will be watching and cheering them on when they compete in all their future athletic and scholastic endeavors. He will always be remembered for his devotion to his wife of 52 years, his warm humor, twinkle in his eye, dry wit, kindness, and compassion. He instilled the values of pride, honor, plain old-fashioned hard work, and above all, faith, to several generations of students here in Bremond and far beyond. He taught not only the game of football but values to young men as they began their life journeys. He will be missed, gone but not forgotten, a part of our hearts always, until we all see him again in Heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Randall and Raymond Robinson.

He is survived by: Wife of 52 years, Janie Robinson of Bremond; Sons, Bo Robinson and wife Farah of Yoakum, Ty Robinson and wife Lara of Woodville; Brothers, Dwane Robinson of Kingsland, Dale Robinson of Rockdale, Winn Robinson of Lubbock, Jerry Robinson of Canyon, Jimmy Robinson of Midland; Grandchildren, Silas, Claire, Ellie Robinson.
