Neva E. Griffin

NEVA E. GRIFFIN, 102, a lifelong resident of the Clifford and North Branch area, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at her home in the loving care of her family. Neva was born June 11, 1910, in Watertown Township, to John and Lillie (Leach) Vollweiler. She married Charles Griffin in 1932.

Neva enjoyed making wedding cakes, hunting, fishing, gardening and writing poetry. She was a lifetime member of the North Branch O.E.S. #149 and TOPS, and she volunteered at the North Branch Thrift Shop.

She is survived by her son, Seth (Dolores) Griffin of Clifford; son-in-law, Eugene Newbegin of Clifford; sisterin law, June Vollweiler of Lapeer; 15 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles in 1987; daughter, Ellen in 1992; 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Memorials may be made to the North Branch Emergency Aide or the Marlette United Hospice Service. Funeral services were held Monday, November 12, 2012 at the North Branch United Methodist Church. Rev. Ron. Hutchinson officiated. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, North Branch. Arrangements by Blackburn Chapel- Martin Funeral Home.
