Carroll Pepperdine, 73, of Yreka, died on June 21, 1998. He was born October 14, 1924 in Eureka,
Calif. He moved from Alturas to Yreka in 1952, where he was owner/operator of Jolley's Club Saloon
for 27 years.
Carroll was married to Carol Kemp and the couple made their home in Yreka.
He was a member of the B.P.O. Elk's 1980 in Yreka, a member of the E Clampus Vitus Humbug
Chapter #73 and the Siskiyou County Historical Society. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during
World War II.
In addition to his wife, Carol Pepperdine of Yreka, survivors include a son Terry Pepperdine of Paradise
and a daughter Karen Riordan of Maxwell; brothers Milo Pepperdine of Likely, Phillip Pepperdine of
Fallon, Nev. and Nolan Pepperdine of Sacramento, five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his fifirst wife Nelda, in 1983.
Funeral services were held in Yreka June 24, with interment following at the Evergreen Cemetery.

Irene (Fickel) Kemp, age 98, passed away September 14, 2020 at the Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska.
Irene was born on a farm near Missouri Valley, Iowa, on September 2, 1922, to the late Myrta and Albert
Fickel. Irene attended a one room school house in Missouri Valley until her high school years when the
family moved to Council Bluffs where she attended Thomas Jefferson High School graduating in 1940.
On February 4, 1942, she married Fred Kemp. She and Fred lived their lives in Council Bluffs raising their
three children in a home full of love, exemplifying the rewards of working hard, of making time for fun,
and for making room for a special dog to love. Irene was a homemaker by career. She and Fred loved to
dance and socialize with many good friends, were active members of the 5th Avenue United Methodist
Church, and were active volunteers at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital for many years.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Bud, Don, Dean, and Bernie, and by her sister,
Helen; by her daughter, Peggy Rodriguez, and by her husband of 73 years, Fred.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Linda Kemp, by her son Edwin and daughter-in-law Linda Kemp, by
son-in-law Juan Rodriguez, by nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great, great
grandchild.
A special thank you goes to the Hospice House and Heritage Ridge Assisted Living for their great care
during her final days. Funeral Service will be held at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, September 18,
2020, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Ridgewood Cemetery. Family requests masks to be worn during the
service. Memorials suggested to 5th Avenue Methodist Church.

2014 at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital. She was born in Council Bluffs on November 5, 1943 to
Fred and Irene (Fickel) Kemp.
After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, she attended Morningside College earning a B.A.
Degree. She taught German, Russian and English, retiring from Council Bluffs Schools in 2000. She was
a proud member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the retired teachers group and volunteered at Jennie Edmundson
Hospital.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Juan Rodriguez; daughters, Lisa and Darin Fisher, Becky
Rodriguez-Damgaard, Amy and Mike Resh; parents, Fred and Irene Kemp; sister, Linda Kemp; brother and
sister-in-law, Edwin and Linda Kemp; grandchildren, Sierra, Savannah, Johnny, Jacson, Addy, Sophia and
Rylee; beloved dog, Mickey; a host of other family and friends.
Visitation is Friday, August 29, 2014 from 6-8pm at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. A CELEBRATION
OF HER LIFE will be on Saturday 11am at the funeral home. Interment is in the Memorial Park Cemetery
followed by a luncheon in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Memorials are suggested to Delta Kappa
