Maxine L. Rambo, age 87, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away at her home on May 23, 2012.
She was born February 24, 1925, in Council Bluffs to the late Clarence and Hazel Rambo. In addition to
her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Smith.
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Teri Arrick; half-brother, Fred Kemp (Irene); 5 grandchildren; 10 great
grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
A reception in her honor will be Tuesday, 3 p.m., in the community room at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral
Home & Crematory. The family will direct memorials.

Geraldine Shanks, age 76, of Rock Island, Ill., formerly of Council Bluffs, died Sunday, August 7, 2005, at
River Park Healthcare Center, Rock Island. Geraldine was born on March 16, 1929, in Council Bluffs, the
daughter of Clifford W. and Hazel H. (Hutchins) Rambo. In earlier years she was a cashier at Kresge's
store and had also worked for the Sunshine Biscuit Company in Council Bluffs. She enjoyed embroidery,
solving puzzles, and spending time with her family, which was most important to her.
Preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Sheryl, and a brother, Clarence.
Survivors include daughters, Theresa Reedy, and husband, Larry, of Rock Island, Rebecca Gray of Rock
Island, and Eulalia Willms, and husband, Matt, of Council Bluffs; sons, Dan Rambo, and wife, Arlene, of
Council Bluffs, Mike Shanks, of Council Bluffs and Jeff Shanks of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister, Maxine
Rambo, of Council Bluffs; brother, Fred Kemp, and wife, Irene, of Council Bluffs; 14 grandchildren and 7
great grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, her body has been cremated. Services are private. Hodgson Funeral Home,
Rock Island, is assisting the family.
