DODGE CITY---Hugh E. Shira, 69, died July 20, 1993, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Dec. 19, 1923, at Dodge City, the son of Lowell Ray and Edith E. Crayhead Shira. He was a Dodge City Senior High School graduate. A lifetime Dodge City resident, he was employed by Atchison, Topeka & Anta Fe Railway for 42 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the First Christian Church, was a 32nd degree Mason, was past master of St. Bernard Lodge No. 222, was past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 97, was past high priest of the Royal Arch Masons Dodge City Chapter No. 75, past exellent master of the Cryptic Masons Countil No. 16; was past commander Knights Templar Dodge City Chapter No. 35, was past master watchman of the shepards of the White Shrine of JerusalemMizpha Shrine No. 9, was a sponser of the Knights Templar Eve Foundation, was past president of the Dodge City Shrine Club, was Chairman of the Dodge City Shrine Club Cripled Chilgren, was a member of the Knights of the York Cross of Honor, Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Loyal Order of Moose, , and the American Legion, all at Dodge City, and was a member of the Midian Shrine and the Consistory, both of Wichita. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. On Feb. 6, 1943, he married Virginia Wintamute at Lewis. She survives. Other susvivors include: a son, Fred J., Jarratt, Va.; two daughters, Janet L. Koehn, Montezuma, and Sheila R. Eakin, Garden City; brother, Charles, Searcy, Ark.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church, Dodge City, with Larry Williams presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Swain Funeral Home, Dodge City. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with Masonic Graveside Rites by St. Bernard Lodge No. 222 AF & AM with a Knights Templar escort. Memorials may be sent to the Dodge City Shrine Club Cripled Children Fund in care of the funeral home.

William Robert McCray was a Railroad Conductor in Union Pacific Railroad.33 Funeral services for William R. "Bill" McCray of Calumet were held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 23, 2012 in the New Hope Baptist Church of El Reno. Rev. Dick Kurtz, Pastor officiated. Burial was in the Canadian Valley Cemetery (McCray Cemetery) northeast of Calumet. Services were under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home. Bill died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born June 6, 1934 north of Calumet to Ted R. and Evelyn (Ellison) McCray. Bill grew up in the Calumet area and was a 1952 graduate of Calumet High School where he served as Class President and played on the Basketball Team. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Lorena Bowers on August 14, 1955 at the Bible Baptist Church in El Reno. They lived in El Reno for many years before moving to Calumet in 2000. Bill worked for the Rock Island Railroad for many years and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad as a Conductor. He was also a farmer and rancher. He was a very active member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph Eldon McCray; his son, William Ted McCray; and his brother-in-law, Joe Morse. Survivors include his wife, Lorena McCray of the home; his sons, Bob McCray and wife, Annette of El Reno, and Kyle McCray and wife, Marquita of Geary; his sisters, Margaret Moberly and husband, Wilford of Edmond, and Marjorie Morse of El Reno; his aunt, Lucille Gaspar and husband, Jack of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Cody McCray and wife, Jennifer, Abby Blagg and husband, Tanner, Billy McCray, Carrie McCray, and Kayla Cortez and husband, Ben; his great grandchildren, Payton and Colsen Blagg; Numerous other relatives and friends. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to either the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 486, El Reno, OK 73036, or to the charity of your choice.
