rooneyAnnie Irene Roney (known to most as Irene Roney, Grandma, Nana and Great-Great Grandma) was born on her grandfather’s homestead October 7, 1911 to Evelyn Mae Reekie and Russell Drew Wintamute in Dodge City, Kansas where she graduated in 1929 from Dodge City High School. After high school, she went to work at Gwinner’s Confectionary and Café. For the rest of her life, food was her vocation.
On May 18, 1931, she married Dowling Parker Patison and had one daughter.
In 1937, Irene Patison and her daughter moved to Seattle, Washington. She learned about restaurant management at Washington State University and was a Master Food Preserver. During WWII, she worked for sorority and fraternity houses on the University of Washington campus. When school was out for the summer, she cooked for children’s camps and spent summers as a cook for gold mining camps in Alaska. She ended her working career at the Ben Paris Restaurant in the heart of Seattle.
In 1942, Irene met John Clark Roney and they married in 1950. They bought their first piece of property in Sequim and made this their home for 60 years. Irene was a past Honorary Grand Pioneer Queen, president of P.E.O. Chapter F.Y., Matron of Armistice Court Oder of Amaranth, volunteer at the Senior Center, and active in helping organize the Sequim Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Irene loved making quilts for the Trinity Quilters, continuing to help others in need her entire life.
Irene was known for her love of cooking. Feeding all her family and friends is what she lived for. Her dinners, pies, cookies, cakes, and canned goods were just some of many items that she shared with everyone. She hoped people would always come hungry and leave full. She always sent her grandchildren home with their “food survival kit”.
Irene’s family surrounded her with love; Grandchildren, Teri & Jay Engelbrecht; Great Grandchildren, Bradley (BJ) & Kjersti Engelbrecht, Jason Engelbrecht, Katie Engelbrecht, Cristina & Matt Waters and her Great-Great Grandchild, 16 month old, Madisyn Grace Engelbrecht.
In honor of what would have been her 100th birthday on October 7, 2011, we welcome all to celebrate her life, on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave, Sequim from 12:00pm - 1:00pm following the traditional church service at 11:00am.

Virginia Mae Wintamute Shira, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.
She was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Dodge City, to Russell D. and Mae Reekie Wintamute.
On Feb. 6, 1943, she married Hughie E. Shira in Lewis. They were long-time residents of Dodge City. She owned and operated Shira's Beauty Salon for 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of First Christian Church, St. Bernard Chapter No. 97 Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, RSVP, Depot Theater Guild, Boothill Belles and several bridge clubs, all at Dodge City.
Her husband died Dec. 19, 1993. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Howard and David; a sister, Marie Abrams; and a son-in-law, Clayton C. Koehn.
Survivors include three children, Fred J. Shira of Churchville, Va., Janet L. Koehn-Hessman of Montezuma, and Sheila R. Eakin-Grayson, a longtime resident of Garden City who recently moved to Dodge City; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Roney of Sequim, Wash., and Lorea Rach of Woodinville, Wash.; a brother, Warren Wintamute of Hutchinson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Dodge City, officiated by Larry Williams. The service will be followed by Order of Eastern Star rites at the church. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.
Visitation is until 8 tonight at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the Dodge City Masonic Lodge. WASHINGTON, PA. - A. Marie Abraham, 82, died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Donnell House following a brief illness. She was born Sept. 13, 1924 to Russell D. and Mae Reekie Wintamute at Dodge City. She married Frank Bombara. He preceded her in death. She later married Carl Abraham on May 29, 1976. He also preceded her in death. She worked as a seamstress for over forty years. She also was a waitress for 12 years at the Tower Restaurant and a seamstress at Flis Five for 11 years. She was a former member of the First Methodist Church in Kansas and presently a member of the Abundant Life Baptist Church in Washington. She was also a member of AARP, loved crocheting, sewing, enjoyed craftwork and especially loved dogs. Survivors include three sons, Frank and wife Sandy, Bombra, Washington, Michael and wife, Nancy Bombara, Cary, N.C., David Bombra, Marysville, MO.; seven daughters, Janice and husband, Eddie Harris, Taylorstown, Pat and husband Sam Doman, Washington, Rosie and husband, Allan Cenis, Washington, Susan and husband, Tom Rizor, Fayettville, N.C., Carla McCreary, Gonzales, LA., Peggy and husband, Dick Matthews, Bentleyville, Donna Kirpsak, Pittsburg; one brother, Warren and wife, Maxine Wintamute, Hutchinson; three sisters, Irene Roney, Sequin, Wash., Lorea Rach, Woodinville, Wash., Virginia Shira, Dodge City; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. DODGE CITY - Howard L. Wintamute, 93, died Oct. 7, 2006, at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City. He was born Oct. 2, 1913, in Ford County, the son of Russell and Mae Reekie Wintamute. He worked for Roberts Tractor Co., later changed to Foley Tractor Co., retiring in 2001. He belonged to First Christian Church and the Moose Lodge, both in Dodge City. On May 5, 1934, he married Fern Darlene Orebaugh in Dodge City. She died Dec. 21, 1995. Survivors include: a daughter, Norma Mullinex, Dodge City; a brother, Warren, South Hutchinson; four sisters, Virginia Shira, Dodge City, Lorea Rach, Woodenville, Wash., Marie Abraham, Washington, Pa., and Irene Roney, Sequim, Wash.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jean A Kautzmann, 79, passed away on February 6, 2017 at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover with her son and daughter by her side. She was born in Florham Park and grew up in Cedar Knolls before moving to Succasunna. She moved to Hopatcong in 1980. She was a machine operator at Jace Precision in Morristown and enjoyed gardening, cooking, while being very devoted to her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter Laura Kautzmann in 2004, her grandson Michael Kautzmann in 2009, 2 brothers and a sister; William Wintermute, Jeff Wintermute, and Pat Nemeth. She is survived by her son George Kautzmann, with whom she lived in Hopatcong, and Brenda (and Larry) Isherwood of Succasunna, 2 grandchildren; Amy (and Jay) Boesner of Flanders and Matthew Isherwood of Morristown. She also leaves her 6 brothers and sisters; (twin) Janet Henderson, Josiah Wintermute, Kathleen Wiedele, John Wintermute, Marie Farley, and Cindy Eckhoff.

Brother of Jean Kautzmann, Janet Henderson, Marie Farley, Patricia Nemeth, Kathleen Weidele, Josiah Wintermute Jr., John Wintermute, Cindy Eckoff and Lois Jane Wintermute(deceased), and Jeffery Wintermute (deceased). He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Marilyn Calvin Wintermute. He is survived by his 7 children with Sylvia. William Wintermute, Cassandra Rounsaville, Wayne Wintermute, Warren Wintermute, Heidi Ritchie, Travis Wintermute, and Nathan Wintermute and 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Attended Cedar Knolls Elementary and Morristown High School. And went on to become an Electronics Engineer. Served in the Naval Reserves from 1953-1955 and active military service in the US Navy from 1955-1958. Following his military career he had a prestigious career with
Lockheed for 40 + years. Bill resided in New Jersey, California, New Hampshire and Georgia. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed golf ,woodworking and painting. He was also a gifted singer. He also served the Lord as a representative for Operation Starfish Africa and as a deacon for The church of Christ in Lavonia, Georgia.
