Norman B. Wintermute, 76, of Greens Landing passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005.
Born August 28, 1929 in Dushore, Pa., he was the son of John and Bertha Garey Wintermute.
He graduated from Wyalusing High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1950. He retired from Ingersoll-Rand as a blacksmith after 41 years. He loved the great outdoors, especially hunting on his mountain and fishing. He was a self-taught craftsman building his own sawmill. He was an artist and loved wildlife art. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God and a member for many years of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife, Joan of 27 years at home. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Barbara Bowman Westbrook; daughters Deborah J. Miller and fiancé, Paul E. Drabinski, Waverly, N.Y., Brenda A. Lambert, Ulster, Pa., Norma Lynn Burkett, Ulster, Pa., Amy L. Arpante, Waverly, N.Y.; his son, David A. Wintermute, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a stepson, William Harold and Laura Sargent, Sayre, Pa.; grandchildren, Eric Eaton and Marianne Morrison-Eaton, Merchantville, N.J., Marni Lambert and Janelle Lambert, East Smithfield, Pa., Sarah Caskey and Kyle Caskey, Ulster, Pa.; step-grandson, Jonathan Sargent; a great-granddaughter, Stella Rose Morrison-Eaton, Merchantville, N.J.; brothers, Earl and Genevieve Wintermute, Gillett, Pa., John Wintermute, Gillett, Pa.; and a sister, Evelyn and John Daniel Morse, Clarks Summit, Pa. He was predeceased by his son, Garey Wintermute in 1973. Friends and family may call Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Mr. Frank Race officiating.
