She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hal Hackling, who died in 1974; and five older sisters: Helen Shupp of Tunkhannock, Katherine Pond of Meshoppen and Noxen, Genevieve Adams of Tunkhannock, Edna Williams of Bloomfield, N.J., and Bernetta DeWolfe of Williamsburg, Mass.

She was the beloved mother of one son, Jeffrey Robert Hackling, and his wife Tracy of Alpharetta, Ga.; and two daughters, Pauline Marie Gatzounas and her late husband George, of Chicopee, Mass., and Joy Anne Wordell and her husband Nathaniel, of South Chatham, Mass. She was also the beloved "Grandma Millie" to 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Aunt Booty."

Millie served as a Wave in the United States Navy during World War II. She was stationed in Washington, D.C. and worked in the communications department.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Deerfield Beach, Fla., for 41 years, serving on numerous committees and organizations.
Millie also worked as a receptionist in a doctor's clinic for 14 years in Pompano Beach, Fla.

The memorial service and interment to be at the Memorial Gardens at Zion Lutheran Church in Deerfield Beach, Fla., at the convenience of the family. -.

John Garey of Gillett, PA was born July 25, 1925 in Wyalusing, PA, the son of the late John S. and Bertha (Garey) Wintermute, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2006, at his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 81. His loving wife of 34 years, L. Lorraine (Roy) Wintermute; brother, Norman Wintermute; sister, Evelyn Morse, all predeceased him. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Anne Wintermute; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Robert Barton, all of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Adam Wintermute, Jeremy Barton, Joshua Passage, Jeffrey (Mandi) Barton, Jessie Barton and Angeline Barton; great-grandson, Chavez; brother Earl (Genny) Wintermute of Bentley Creek, PA; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends and family he loved dearly. John retired from the Ingersoll Rand Company in Athens, PA after 30 + years of dedicted service as a machinist. He was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country fro 1948-1952. He will always be remembered for being a loving husband, devoted father and beloved grandfather. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Hiome, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY, on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral Services honoring his life will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Reverand Charles Root will celebrate the services. Interment will follow in the Gillett Cemetery, where the Chumung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Wintermute full Military Honors. Memorial donations may be directed to Guthrie Hospice Memorial Program Guthrie Square, Syre, PA 18840. A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for his family at obituaries at www.olthof.com.
