Frederick "Dale" Heinzman
Dale Heinzman, 85, of Phillips, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora. Fr. Dennis Hunt will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial
Park Cemetery. The United Veterans Honor Guard will provide military rites.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel with a scripture wake service at 7 p.m.
Frederick "Dale" Heinzman, son of Scott and Maude E. (Gish) Heinzman, was born Feb. 11, 1921, at Phillips. He grew up in Phillips, graduating from Phillips High School in 1940. He entered the Navy on May 17, 1942 serving with the Air Transport Squadron until his honorable discharge on January 1, 1946. He returned to Phillips and farmed in that area.
He married Emma Chmelka on Aug. 21, 1959, at Grand Island. They lived in Phillips and he continued to farm and was owner of Heinzman Engineering with his two brothers. His wife died April 3, 2005. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora, Platt Duetsche, Saddle Club and the V.F.W.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Doug) Boehle of Phillips; one stepdaughter, Mary Anne Chmelka of Grand Island; three stepsons, David (Carole) Chmelka of Grand Island, Victor Chmelka of Omaha; John "J.J." Chmelka of Grand Island; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; one step-great granddaughter; one brother, Wayne (Joan) Heinzman of Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma; one son, Robert; one brother, Warren Heinzman; two sisters, Beatrice Shomshor and Doris Phillips.

2 Scott Wayne Heinzman was an Owner in Heinzman Engineering. Scott Wayne Heinzman, the son of Scott Earl and Maude (Ellen) Heinzman, was born on the family farm in rural Phillips on Oct. 10, 1923, and died in Grand Island on Jan. 17, 2010, at the age of 86.
He grew up in on the family farm and graduated from Phillips High School. On Aug. 21, 1944, he was united in marriage to Joan Virginia Marlatt at Bellvue, Kan.
Wayne went to work for his father at S.E. Heinzman & Sons in 1942. In 1953, the company was moved to Grand Island. The company evolved into Heinzman Engineering, Inc. The business was sold in 1987. After that, Wayne continued to farm and mow fairways at Indian Head Golf Course.
Wayne was a member of the Phillips United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge Keystone 62 A.F. & A.M., Grand Island Eagles, Grand Island Elks, the Platt-Duetsche, the N.R.A, Riverside County Club and Lochland Country Club. He loved to play golf and ride his motorcycles. Wayne made many trips up to Sturgis, South Dakota. Wayne was a pilot and loved to fly family and friends in his airplane. He was a faithful Husker fan to both the basketball and football teams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Lee Heinzman; two brothers, Dale and Warren Heinzman and two sisters, Doris Phillips and Beatrice Shomshor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan Heinzman of Phillips; son, John (Isabelle) Heinzman of Phillips; daughter, Pat Heinzman of Grand Island; four granddaughters, Gretchen Ellen Heinzman of Lincoln, Nicole Myers of York, Anna Christine (Brad) Hunter of Sanford, N.C., and Tracy Lynn (Doug) Hill of Grand Island; six great-grandchildren, Damia Joan Hill, Nicholas Lyle Grubb, twins, Devon and Tristan Hill, Keenan Scott Myers and John Jackson Hunter and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

W.W. Heinzman, 68, 411 N. Orleans died Tuesday, July 20, at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo. (other funeral arrangements omitted here).
Mr. Heinzman was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Phillips to Scott and Maude (Gish) Heinzman. He grew up and was educated in Phillips. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1944 to 1949. He married Thelma Haussler on June 7, 1953, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island until 1974, when they moved to Dannebrog before moving back to Grand Island in 1994. Mr. Heinzman along with his brothers, Wayne and Dale, owned and operated Heinzman Engineering until his retirement in 1986, at which time the company was sold. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo and Platt-Duetsche in Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Diane Riedy and Winona Bocka, both of Grand Island; two grandchldren; two brothers, Dale and Wayne Heinzman, both of Phillips, and one sister, Doris Phillips of California. He was preceded in death by one sister, Beatrice Shomshor.
