5 Claude A. Labbee, son of Alf and Isabel Labbee, was born Oct. 17, 1874 in Whitehall, Ill. He passed away Dec. 31, 1966 in the Burge Hospital in Springfield, Mo., making his age at time of death 72 years, two months and 14 days. He enlisted in the U. S. Army Feb. 24, 1918 and served in the infantry. He received a medical discharge on April 14, 1919. After returning home he worked as an electrician and mechanic. One June 7, 1919 he was united in marriage to Viola Vanderber, and to this union 10 children were born: seven daughters, Juanita Watters, Pekin, Ill., Doris Riley, Springifield, mo., Claudine Rupp, Audrey Stark and Florayne Krones of Pekin, Ill., Shirley Curbow of Springfield, Mo., Bernice Davis of St. Louis, Mo.; three sons, Bud Labbee of St. Louis, Mo., Bill and Bob Labbee of Des moines, Ia.; two brothers, George Labbee of hillboro, mo., and Ohren Labbee of Cadet, mo.; two sisters, Cecil Watson and May Labbee of De Soto, Mo. He spent most of his life in the Raymondville and Hartshorn communities, later moving to Springfield where he lived at the time of his death. Funeral services were held Jan. 3, in the Hartshorn Assembly of God Church, Mrs. Sadie Miles officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Evans - Elliott.
Notes: This is the exact way the original obit read but he was not born in 1874 - he was born in 1894. His headstone says 1895 but this is incorrect also - he was born in 1894.
