John Sylvester Snover was born 5-4-1871 the son of George S & Mary (Kresge) Snover. He married 1st on 4-24-1894 at Newton PA to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Van Deburg, b: 1873, d: 1903, the daughter of John & Phebe (Van Debogert) Van Deburg. They had one daughter Ruth, born 1901.
John Snover then married 2nd, at Pittston, PA on 10-25-1905 by Rev W. D. Thomas, to Jennie Weir. He then moved to a farm in Ransom, PA with his brother-in-law, Chris Richards. In 1913 he moved to a house on Parsonage St. in Pittston PA.
He worked for Pittston Flour and Feed Co. for the next 5 years before moving back to a farm with his brother Edwin. Within two years he returned to Pittston Flour and Feed and remained there until his retirement in 1952.
John's mother was Mary Kresge; his 3rd cousin, born in 1868, was Sebastian S. Kresge founder of SS Kresge 5 & 10 stores and the current K Marts.
John died 2-6-1962 and is buried in the West Pittston cemetery.

Earl John Snover was born on 10-21-1912 in Newton, Luzerne Co Pennsylvania, the son of John S & Jennie (Weir) Snover. During his early life he grew up on the family farm and then moved with his parents to Parsonage St in West Pittston, PA.
In 1931, after completing high school, he went to work for the Glen Alden Coal Co. in Pittston. He worked in the machine shop until 1942 when he moved to Johnson City, NY and went to work for the IBM Corp. He worked for the card division in Endicott and transferred with that group to Greencastle, Ind. from 1960 to 1967. He then transferred back to the Endicott plant and remained there until his retirement in 1974. During the period from 1955 to 1974 he was a manager in card manufacturing and equipment assembly areas.
Earl liked to bowl, play cards and was an avid golfer. He was also a great lover of dogs and owned many during his life time. His favorite past times however were to sit and visit or "do" his car.
Earl married on 7-7-1934 at Elkton, Maryland by Rev. C. M. Cope, to Laura Elizabeth Hosier. He died on 12-31-1993 at Johnson City, NY and is buried in the Riverhurst Cemetery in Endwell, NY.

Laura Elizabeth Hosier was an Emphysemia. Laura Elizabeth Hosier was born on 6-9-1914 at Pittston, Luzerne Co. Pennsylvania, the daughter of Aaron & Mabel (Knebler) Hosier. She grew up on North St in West Pittston, and married in 1934 to Earl John Snover.
Laura was an excellent cook, avid housekeeper, gardener and lover of birds and dogs. While living on Lott street she had a large vegetable and rose garden with Barn Swallow houses on both sides. The swallows rid the garden of most insects and also tried to "rid" Laura by dive bombing her as she worked in the garden. She bought a large straw hat to avoid any "drop out" from the birds. Laura also built a 3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft wire cage in which she kept six parakeets.
Known as Mom-Mom to her grandchildren, Laura became gravely ill with emphysema. She died on 1-23-1986 in Johnson City, NY and is buried in the Riverhurst Cemetery in Endwell, NY.
