James V. Snover, 85 of Endicott, died at Binghamton General Hospital, Saturday, December 2, 2006. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gail and John DeCost, Winthrop, Mass., and Sharon Galloway, Ipswich, Mass.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Snover, Endicott and David and Donna Snover, Lynnfield, Mass.; fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a retired manager with IBM, retiring after 32 years of service and a member of its Quarter Century Club. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge #1977 and the Maj. Ray H. Humphrey, D.S.C., VFW Post 1449, both of Endicott. Jim was an avid New York Yankee and Giants fan, enjoyed bowling and played Semi Pro Baseball in the Scranton area.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 1:30 p.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with the Reverend David Seaver, Chaplain of Spiritual Care at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, officiating. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the UHS Foundation, Dialysis Unit, 20-42 Mitchell Avenue, Binghamton, N.Y. 13903. Mrs. Jennie S. LaFrance, 85, of Main St., Laceyville, passed away at her home Sunday morning following a short illness. She was born May 12, 1878, at Black Walnut, Braintrim Township, a daughter of the late George W. and Sylvia Farr Snover. She lived at Doolittle Hilll for several years until her marriage to Ellis D. LaFrance in 1901.

Mrs. LaFrance and her husband operated a farm at Bunnell Hill, Meshoppen, RD, until 1914, when they moved to Laceyville.

Mrs. LaFrance was a member of the Braintrim Baptist Church, Laceyville, and had taught the Ladies' Class of its Sunday School for 37 years before her retirement a few years ago. She was also an active worker of the Laceyville Auxiliary of the Tyler Memorial Hospital.

She and her husband would have observed thier 63rd wedding anniversary on May 1.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ernest Clapper, Miss Mildred LaFrance and Mrs. Robert Brotzman, alll of Laceyville, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Shelden Funeral Home, Laceyville, with Brother John DeVries of Rutherford, N.J. and Brother Gilford Christensen of Woodbridge N.J. officiating. Burial will be in Lacey Street Cemetery.
