John Frank Snover was born on 16 May 1846 in Walpack, Sussex, New Jersey.1,2,3 He and Polly Emilia Towner were married on 30 October 1865. He died on 1 November 1885, at age 39, in Wyalusing, Bradford, Pennsylvania.2,3 He was buried in Merryall Cemetery (Lot 20), Merryall, Bradford, Pennsylvania.4,3
Civil War 12 Sept 1864- Company F 59th Regiment 2nd Pennsylvania Cavalry.5 John Frank Snover was the first son of Daniel Harker Snover and Catherine Buchanan Snover. He was probably born at Walpack, Sussex County, New Jersey. In 1860 he was working on a farm with his parents at Meshoppen, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania.

John Snover, like his brothers Cyrus, Samuel, Edwin and George, fought in the Civil War. He mustered in on 12 September 1864, and became a private in Company "F", Second Regiment Pennsylvania Calvary commanded by William H. Sheller. This regiment participated in the following battles: Wyatts Farm, Virginia on 16 February 1865; Bayton Plank Roads, Virginia 31 March 1865; and Five Forks, Virginia on 1 April 1865, and participated in the Grand Review at Washington, D.C. on 23 May 1865.

John married Polly Towner on 30 October 1865. She was the daughter of Isaac Pratt Towner and Sally Jane Forbes. The couple settled at Wyalusing, Pennsylvania where John became a well known farmer and horseman. Although remarkably athletic and muscular, he was stricken with a complication of ailments and died 1 November 1885. He was buried in the Merryall Cemetery, which is located between Wyalusing and Camptown, Pennsylvania.
