Anna Maria Garrison was born on 25 May 1786 in Stillwater, New Jersey.1 She died on 19 September 1868, at age 82, in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.2 She was buried in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover Green, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.

During their marriage, John and Mary Garrison Robins lived on property where the Sugar Notch reservoir is now located. After John's death, in 1831, Mary resided in the house for many years with her younger children. One night, while getting up out of bed to attend to a sick child, she was bitten on her foot by a copperhead snake, and as she raised her foot off the snake was bitten on the other foot. Mary refused to let any of the children out of their beds to get help until she lighted a candle to look for the snake. Once the snake was found and killed she allowed her children to get help from the neighbors and a doctor. Luckily, Mary survived the snake bites and lived to the age of 82.

Mary is buried by the side of her husband John in Hanover Green Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley.
