Annette L. Powers, 91, of Roanoke, Indiana, formerly of Lima, Ohio, died at 10:45 a.m. March 16, 2008, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born November 19, 1916, in Cleveland, Ohio to Howard H. and Beatrice A. Learn Robins. Her parents preceded her in death. She married Ellis R. Powers, who died February 4, 1999. Mrs. Powers retired from the men?s department at the Leader Store. She was a member of the Mildred Chapter 85, Eastern Star of Cardington, which merged with Ann Hill Chapter 81. She was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lima, Ohio, the Lutheran Berean Church Circle, and the Lutheran Perfect Circle Couples Group. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Sandra Powers, of Roanoke, Indiana; three grandchildren Kurt Lawrence Powers, Thomas Craig Powers and Howard Ellis Powers; three great-grandchildren Cassandra M. (Stephen) Steinmetz, Mathew H. Powers, Dalton M. Powers; two great-great-grandchildren. Matysen Marie Steinmetz and Brayden Steinmetz; and three step-great-great-grandchildren, Amie Steinmetz, Marranda Steinmetz and Anderson Steinmetz. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Powers. Services will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Wilson will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Glendale Cemetery, Cardington, Ohio. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where an Eastern Star service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Ronald Ellis Powers, 63, 10600N-600E, Roanoke, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday (July 15, 2001) at his home. Mr. Powers was a farm broadcaster and had been employed by WIMA Radio and Television, Lima, Ohio; WRFD Radio, Columbus, Ohio; WDAY Radio, Fargo, N.D.; KCNN Radio, Grand Forks, N.D.; and WOWO Radio, Fort Wayne. He was farm director at WOWO Radio, Fort Wayne, from 1989 until 1996. He received many awards during his career, including the State of Indiana Sagamore of the Wabash in 2001. He had resided in Fargo, N.D., prior to moving to Roanoke in 1990. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Lima, Ohio; the National Association of Farm Broadcasters; Mid-America Chapter National Agri-Marketing Association; American Sheep Industry; Indiana Sheep Association; International Association of Agricultural Journalists; State and National Sheep Breed Associations; Ohio Sheep Improvement Association; and Midstates Wool Growers Cooperative. He was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Cardington, Ohio, to Ellis R. Powers and Annette Robins Powers. His mother survives and lives in Roanoke. He graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1962. He married Sandra L. Thomas in Lima, Ohio, on Jan. 26, 1966. His wife survives. Also surviving are four sons, Kurt L. Powers, Delaware, Ohio, Thomas C. Powers, Thief River Falls, Minn., Howard E. Powers, Fort Wayne, and Courtney A. Powers, of Ohio; and seven grandchildren. Calling is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, with calling one hour prior to services, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1300 Edgewood, Lima, Ohio, with Pastor Paul Greuter officiating. Burial will be at the Shawnee Township Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Preferred memorials are to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3458 Stellhorn Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46815.
