Keith Louder

RAPID CITY - Keith Louder, 91, of Rapid City, formerly of Draper, died August 14, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He was born November 7, 1910, to Lyle and Almedia (Haskins) Louder at the family home north of Draper. He attended the Prairie Home School and Draper High School until the death of his father forced him to drop out to help on the family farm.

On May 21, 1933, he married Margaret Macy. They lived on a farm west of Draper until 1945, when the family moved into town. Keith continued to farm and ranch until his retirement.

The Draper community was an important part of his life, as evidenced by his service on the Draper Town Board, the Draper Volunteer Fire Dept. and as the Jones County Deputy Sheriff. He was instrumental in planning and actively participated in the construction of the Draper Auditorium, which is still the center of community activities today. He was well known for sharing the abundance of his vegetable and flower gardens.

In 1999, health forced the Louders to move to Rapid City to be near their daughter.

Keith is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Margaret Ellen Ruoff (Herbert), Centennial, CO, and Beverly Drabek (Robert), Rapid City; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Louder (Lois), Pierre, and a sister, Maxine Curtis (Marvin), Rapid City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, 2 sisters and one grandson.

Services will be Tuesday, August 20, 2002, 2 p.m. Central Time at the Draper Methodist Church. Viewing one hour prior to service. Interment at the Draper Cemetery immediately following the service.

Memorials may be made to Draper Methodist Church, Draper, SD 57531.

Behrens Mortuary, Rapid City, SD, is in care of arrangements.
