09/20/07- GREENVILLE ? Milford L. Kightlinger, 91, of 339 E. Jamestown Road, West Salem Township, Greenville, formerly of 9 Penn Ave., Greenville, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at St. Paul Homes.
Born May 17, 1916, in Salamanca, N.Y., he was a son of Arthur Kightlinger and Marie Snever Kightlinger.
He was a graduate of Randolph Central High School, Randolph, N.Y., and retired in 1979 as an inspector for Talon Zipper Co. in Meadville after 46 years of service.
He attended Hillside Presbyterian Church, Greenville.
He served as treasurer of the Talon Employee Credit Union for many years. He was a member of Fort Meade, Fla., Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 945 of Harrisburg.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945, he was stationed in Europe with the 633rd Engineer Co. He was awarded a European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, AM Theatre Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He married Florence E. Mather June 5, 1938; she passed away Dec. 11, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Stratiff and her husband, Frank, of Greenville, and Linda Shultz and her husband, James, of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Ormal Kightlinger.
There are no calling hours.
The memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Loutzenhiser-Jordan Colonial Funeral Home, 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
Cremation will take place.
