Lena Margaret Opdycke was born on 10 November 1894 in Kingwood Township, Hunterdon, New Jersey.1,4 She and William Finney Hillpot were married on 25 December 1912 in Frenchtown, Hunterdon, New Jersey.5,6 She died on 27 February 1976, at age 81, in Frenchtown, Hunterdon, New Jersey.4 She was buried in Frenchtown Cemetery, Frenchtown, Alexandria, Hunterdon, New Jersey.7

Mrs. Lena M. Hillpot, 82, Frenchtown, NJ, died in Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington.

She and her husband, William, who died Jan. 4, 1976 operated Hillpot Hatcheries in Frenchtown for many years.
Born in Kingwood Township Nov. 10, 1894, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Jane Bonham Opdycke.

Lena was a member of Frenchtown Baptist Church where she served as clerk for 11 years, and was secretary and office manager of the hatchery for fifty years.

Survivors include three sons, Edward of Freehold, NJ and Lawrence and Welling, both of Frenchtown; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Godown of Frenchtown, Mrs. Dorothy Schultz of Flagtown, NJ, and Mrs. Lucile Baldwin of Columbia, MD, 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She had six children:

Mabel Hillpot Godown, 89, of Frenchtown, died Tuesday, Jan 7, 2003, in the Hunterdon Care Center Raritan Township.
Born in Frenchtown, a daughter of the late William and Lena Opdycke Hillpot.
Her husband, Clarence, died in 1995.
She was raised in Frenchtown. She was a graduate of Rider College and worked for many years as a secretary at Frenchtown High School, Delaware Valley Regional High School and the Kingwood Township School. She retired as a secretary for Anthony Danzo, Esquire.
She was a member of the Frenchtown Baptist Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Phyllis Hendershot of Lebanon and Marilyn Zapatka of Hellertown, two sisters, Dorothy Schultz of Flagtown, NJ, and Lucille Baldwin of Columbia, MD; two brothers, Welling Hillpot of Frenchtown and Lawrence Hillpot of Wildwood, Fla.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence W. Hillpot, 88, of Germantown, TN, passed away Feb. 8, 2011. Larry was born on Feb. 27, 1922 in Frenchtown, NJ, to the late William F. and Lena (Opdyke) Hillpot. He worked many years in the family business, Hillpot Hatchery in Frenchtown. He also ran a successful farming business and Kwik Clean Laundromat. He was a long time member of Frenchtown Baptist Church. Larry married the late Carolyn M. (Collie) Woodruff on Oct. 11, 1947, and they raised their family in Frenchtown.

He later worked for VisQueen(Ethyl), and Hunterton Transformers before retiring. Upon retirement, Larry and Collie traveled the country before moving to Florida permanently in 1995. Upon the death of his beloved wife Collie in 2008, he moved to Germantown, TN.

He is survived by a daughter, Donna(Jim) Brassaw of Cocoa, FL, and two sons, Dennis(Robin) of Pennellville, NY and David(Debbie) of Collierville, TN; two sisters, Dorothy Schultz of Flagtown, NJ and Lucille Baldwin of Columbia, Maryland; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Carolyn, he was predeceased by a sister, Mabel Godown from Frenchtown, NJ and two brothers, Edward from Freehold, NJ and Welling from Frenchtown, NJ.

Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 19th at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, February 19th from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ.

Welling Stover Hillpot was a Co-Owner- Hillpots Chick Store/ Visqueen Plastics Company Employee.5 FRENCHTOWN - Welling S. Hillpot, who had homes in Frenchtown and Fort Myers, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. He was 86.

Born Nov. 21, 1923 in Frenchtown, a son of William and Lena Opdyke Hillpot, Welling was a lifelong resident there. He graduated from Frenchtown High School. He worked at Visqueen Plastics in Raritan Township and prior to that, was a co-owner of Hillpot Quality Chicks in Frenchtown. He also owned and operated the Village Apartments in Frenchtown for many years and was in the real estate business.

Welling was a member of the former Frenchtown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and treasurer. He was an active member and founder of the Church of Palmetto Palms in Fort Myers. He was a member of the Frenchtown Vol. Fire Co. and the Frenchtown Rescue Squad for 20 years. A member of the former Orion Lodge, F. & A.M. in Frenchtown, he was an avid bowler.

A brother, Edward Hillpot, and a sister, Mabel Godown, both died earlier.

Welling is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret E. Cole Hillpot; two sons William Hillpot and his wife Michelle of Belvidere, Ill. and Robert Hillpot and his wife Margaret of Pohatcong Township; two daughters, Patti Senk and her husband Tom of Manahawkin and Bonnie Becker and her husband David of Green Lane, Pa.; a brother, Lawrence Hillpot of Tennessee; two sisters, Dorothy Schultz of Flagtown and Lucille Baldwin of Maryland; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.]

Services: Memorial service on Sunday, June 6, 2 p.m. at the Frenchtown Presbyterian Church, 4th St., officiated by Pastor Patrick Johnson. Interment private at Frenchtown Cemetery, under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, Holland Township.
