William Johnston

68, passed on Jan. 27, 2009. He was born in Seattle, Wash., on March 25, 1940. A 37-year resident of Big Bear Valley, William served in the U.S. Air Force and was retired from Bear Mountain.

William was active in Old Miners Days during the 1980s and 1990s.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Johnston of Sugarloaf, stepdaughter Paula Vaccariello of Sugarloaf, stepson Michael Vaccariello of San Diego and in Seattle, Wash., son William Johnston, sister Judy DePalma, sister Shirley Harding, brother Ralph Johnston and brother Robert Johnston. He is also survived by two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ, 41035 Big Bear Blvd. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Jeanette Goodrich Evans, 83, former Kankakee resident who died yesterday at St. Margaret hospital, Hammond, Ind.

Mrs. Evans had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Dunn of Hammond since last April.

She was born in 1866 at Pierpoint, N. Y., the daughter o Mr. and Mrs. Andrew P. Coller.

She moved to Kankakee with her parents when she was six months of age and had resided here since.

In 1885 she was married to David W. Goodrich who died in 1929 and in 1945 she married H. A. Evans, whose death occurred last April.

Ruby Irene Goodrich was born on 27 July 1905 in Verona, Grundy, Illinois.^1,2 She and Elmer Joseph Brassard were married on 26 September 1921 in Kankakee, Kankakee, Illinois.^3,4 She died on 19 March 1997, at age 91, in Kankakee, Kankakee, Illinois.^3,2 She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington, Will, Illinois.⁵

Ruby Brassard, 91, of Wilmington, died Wednesday (March 19, 1997) at Kankakee after a lengthy illness.

Vistiation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Freitag Funeral Home, Wilmington, where services will be 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Nathan Emmons will officiate.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.

She was born July 27, 1905 in Verona, Ill., the daughter of David and Nellie Goodrich.

Her husband, Elmer Joseph Brassard, whom she married Sept. 26, 1921 in Kankakee, died in 1975.

Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Robert Illum of Largo, Fla., Vera and Sam Nowman of Bradley, Iona and Raymond Tedford of Ponderosa N,M., and Rosemary and Gilbert Irps of Kankakee; six sons and four daughters-in-law, Donald Brassard of Greenup, Bernard and Irene Brassard of Spring City, Tenn., Raymond and JoAnn Brassard of Seneca, David Brassard of Ignacio, Colo., Lawrence and Roberta Brassard of South Haven, Mich., and Richard and Linda Brassard of Channahon; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Styck and Hazel Dunn, both of Kankakee.

Deceased are three sons, Elmer Jr., Gerald and Roger Brassard; two daughters, Marjorie Rasor and Linda Miller.
