Imogene W. “Imy” Saums, 96, of Columbus, died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her children.
Born in Pinkstaff, Illinois, July 15, 1919, Imy was the daughter of Gilbert W. and Hester Alice Wells Waldrop. She married Clyde H. Saums April 10, 1942, in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He preceded her in death March 11, 2004.
Imy is survived by her loving children, Joyce K. (J.D.) Griffin of San Jose, California, Charles G. Saums of Columbus and Debra J. (James) Snyder of Charleston, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Susan (Michael) Frounfelter of Santee, California, Christian (Amanda) Saums of Boise, Idaho, Ryan (Kimberly) Snyder of Charleston, South Carolina, and Bradford (Alison) Snyder of Greensboro, North Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Coadie, Laney and Grace Snyder and Cydney and Carson Saums.
Over her lifetime, Imy was a primary school teacher and a substitute for special education classes. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbus and was a loving homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.
There will be no calling hours or service for Imy. In keeping with her wishes, cremation is planned with private inurnment in the columbarium at First Presbyterian Church.
