Long Illness Claims Life of Mrs. Wayne Curlis in Columbus
Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Curlis, 53, of near Sycamore, passed away at 5 p.m. Friday, June 28, 1968, in University Hospital, Columbus. She had been seriously ill four years and hospitalized the past six weeks. Death was attributed to complications.
Born Sept. 4, 1014 in Sycamore, she was a daughter of Harrison W. W. and Nessie L. (Alford) Van Gundia. Her father is deceased and her mother survives near Sycamore. She married Wayne J. Curlis on April 5, 1936 and he survives.
Also surviving are sons, J. Van Curlis, Carey; and William F. Curlis, Forest; a daughter, Miss Connie Curlis, Mansfield; three grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Jane) Barton, Tiffin; Mrs. George (Lenore) Costello, Lake Alfred, Fla.; Mrs. Richard (Minette) Hull, Upper Sandusky; and Mrs. Ralph (Billie) Kuenzli, Haines City, Fla.
Mrs. Curlis was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Sycamore and was a member of the Win One Class. She resided her lifetime in the Sycamore community.
Private funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 1, from the Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. The Rev. Ronald E. Loy officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore.

William F. Curlis was born on 11 July 1941. He died on 16 October 2005, at age 64, in Ridgeway, Hardin, Ohio.

Madeline J. Curl was born on 5 December 1924 in Ada, Hardin, Ohio.^2,3 She was married about 1942. She and Wayne James Curlis were married on 3 July 1970 in Hardin County, Ohio.^1,2 She died on 12 August 2009, at age 84, in Naples, Collier, Florida. W. Dodge Curlis Dies in Hospital
Rites Are Tuesday For Prominent Local Bank Director

W. Dodge Curlis, 69, of Sycamore, a charter director of the First National Bank, of Sycamore, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 1958, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky. A patient in the dospital 10 days, Mr. Curlis had been in failing health five years.
Born September 2, 1888, near Sycamore, he was the son of James L. and Sarah (Walton) Curlis. In 1922 he married Gladys Vance, who died in 1942.

Surviving are a son, Meric A., of Sycamore; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Robinson, of Dayton; a brother, J. Paul Curlis, of Sycamore; and three grandchildren.

A son, a brother, and a sister are deceased.

A resident of the Sycamore area all his life, Mr. Curlis was a retired framer. He was a member of the Sycamore Methodist Church.

Services were held at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday in the Moore Funeral Home. Rev. Nolan Younkman officiated. Burial was made in Pleasant View Cemetery.

MRS. GLADYS CURLIS DIES NEAR SYCAMORE
Funeral Services To Be Held Wednesday

Mrs. Gladys Vance Curlis, 48, wife of W. D. Curlis, died at 11:30 p. m. Sunday, Jan 11, 1942, in the family residence a half mile south of Sycamore. Her death followed a week of serious illness and is attributed to cerebral hemorrhage.

Mrs. Curlis was a daughter of Meric and Dillie (Swalley) Vance. Her father, former Sycamore banker, died a year or more ago. She was born Sept. 18, 1893, and was married June 14, 1922, to W. D. Curlis, who survives. She also leaves a son and daughter, Meric Allen and Nancy Jo, a sister, Miss Alice Vance of Piqua, and her mother, Mrs. Dillie Vance. A son, James, is deceased.

Mrs. Curlis was a member of the Sycamore Methodist church. Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the residence and will be followed by burial in Pleasant View cemetery. The body will be taken Tuesday noon from the E. W. Moore funeral home to the residence where friends may call.
