LEESBURG, Fla. -- Madeline L. Bixler of Leesburg, Florida, and formerly of Findlay, Ohio, died Monday, October 24, 2011. She was 76 years old.

Born January 3, 1935, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Gertrude (Burks) Thiel. She married John L. Bixler on January 24, 1953 and he survives.

She is also survived by her son, Jeffrey (Pamela) of Summerfield, Florida; one grandson, Matt (Jessica) Geren of Charleston, SC; and three great-grandchildren.

A 1952 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, Mrs. Bixler was a cashier at Scheck's Grocery store, and stayed with them as the stores transitioned into Great Scot Super Markets. In 1967 Madeline and John took over Pacey's Farm Market, which later they developed into The Fruit Basket in Findlay, Ohio. They owned the business until it closed in 1992. She worked for Findlay Ford for a short time after that until retiring to Leesburg, Florida.

She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Findlay, Ohio and St. Paul's Church in Leesburg. As well as a beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Bixler was a Cub Scout Leader, member of the Altrusa Club, and a Lady Shriner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul's Church in Leesburg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice at 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, Florida, 32778.

Norma Quail was born on 28 May 1931 in Wyandot County, Ohio.^2,3 She and Donald Gerald (Jerry) Thiel were married on 30 March 1948 in Upper Sandusky, Wyandot, Ohio.¹ She died on 20 January 2013, at age 81, in Bucyrus, Crawford, Ohio.³ She was buried in Rowland Cemetery, Kirby, Wyandot, Ohio.³

Connie Lou Thiel was born on 31 August 1948 in Upper Sandusky, Wyandot, Ohio.² She and Michael (Mickey) Denman were married on 8 December 1999 in Marion County, Ohio.¹ She died on 24 March 2020, at age 71, in Ohio.² She was buried in Fairview Cemetery, La Rue, Marion, Ohio.²

Michael (Mickey) Denman was born on 26 June 1945 in Marion County, Ohio.² He and Connie Lou Thiel were married on 8 December 1999 in Marion County, Ohio.¹ He died on 21 April 2007, at age 61, in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio.^2,1 He was buried in Fairview Cemetery, La Rue, Marion, Ohio.²

U.S. Marine Corps.² Michael (Mickey) Denman was a Whirlpool Corporation Assembler.¹ Michael "Mikey" Denman, age 61, of 1806 Mount Olive-Agosta Road, New Bloomington, died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

Born June 25, 1945, in Marion, he was the son of Benton Denman Jr. and Jacqueline "Jo" O'Connell Denman and they survive in New Bloomington.

On Dec. 8, 1999, in Marion, he married Connie Lou Thiel Denman and she survives in New Bloomington.

A Marion-area resident most of his life, he was an assembler at Whirlpool Corp. for 23 years. A member of Pheasants Forever, he was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two daughters, Christine (Chester) Blanton, LaRue, Tara (Joe) Blanton, New Bloomington; a stepson, Don (Alicia) Powers, Marion; seven grandchildren, Courtney, Robert, Charlie, Alicia, Brittany, A.J. and Ricky; two sisters, Karen (John) Uhl, Georgetown, Texas, Kim Steed, Marion; a brother, John (Kathy) Denman; and his beloved dog, Dakota.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily; a brother-in-law, Randy Steed; and grandparents Harold and Hazel O'Connell and Benton and Mildred Denman Sr.
