Howard Duane Tewksbury was a Food Services- ARA Services/ American Food and Vending.3 PFC US Army- Vietnam.1 Howard D. Tewksbury, 70, of Vestal, passed away on July 3, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard S. and Belva Tewksbury; and a sister, Janet (Bernard) Hassett. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Bonnie Tewksbury; a sister, Joyce (Fred) Henyan, Port Crane; and a brother, Robert E. (Julie) Tewksbury, Walesko, GA; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Coleman, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. Howard worked for over 45 years in food services, having worked for ARA Services and American Food & Vending. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, gardening and fishing. Funeral Services for Howard will be held on Saturday, July, 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott with the Rev. David C. Seaver officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills at the convenience of the family. The family will receive their friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are requested to an Animal Shelter of one's choice.

ROBERT DEAN ZRYD JR. age 56 of Port Huron died Thursday, July 5, 2012 in St. John’s Hospital in Detroit after a brief illness. Mr. Zryd was born February 6, 1956 in Mount Clemens to the late Robert and Margaret (Thelen) Zryd. Rob graduated from Richmond High School in 1974 and worked in maintenance at Port Huron Hospital for the past sixteen years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed kayaking. He is survived by his sisters; Lois and Edgar Stern of Hernando, FL., Sherry Zryd of Monterey, CA. and Peggy and Everette Yaek of Richmond, special friends; Ron and Julie Newell of Marine City and several nieces and nephew and great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 1:00 pm in Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Marysville. Reverend John Hitzeroth, pastor will officiate. Visiting will be on Saturday from 4:30 to 8pm in Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond and Sunday from 12 noon to 1:00 pm in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family or the Lois Wagner Memorial Library.

Private graveside services for Jerry Thiel will be Friday by the Rev. Jim Stauffer. Burial will be at Rowland Cemetery in rural Upper Sandusky.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

He died at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.

He was born April 5, 1927 in Upper Sandusky to Gilbert J. and Gertrude (Burks) Thiel, both of whom are deceased. He married Norma Quail on March 30, 1948 in the rectory of former St. Peter's in Upper Sandusky and she survives.

Also surviving are four children, Connie Denman of Marion, Doug "Stephan" (Brenda) Thiel of Upper Sandusky, Theresa (Stephen) Kahler of Kenton and Donna (Gregg) Leeth of Upper Sandusky; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; and Madelyn Bixler of Lakeland, Fla.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Jane Kalb and a son-in-law, Michael Denman.

Jerry was the former owner and operator of Jerry Thiel Painting, having started the business in 1952 and retiring officially in 1998. He worked alongside his son for many years and he continues the family business today.

He was a member of the Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky, and a member of the Amvets 777, American Legion Post 225, Moose Lodge 1093 and a life member of the K of C, all in Upper Sandusky.

Jerry was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of Upper Sandusky High School in 1947 and then went on to College in Tiffin.

For hobbies Jerry enjoyed traveling with his wife, having driven to all 48 of the continental states, going to casinos, watching the Browns and especially the Cavaliers, fishing and spending time with his family.

Martha Kalb, 77, of Bucyrus, died Sunday night at The Inn at Orchard Park following a short illness.

She was born in Upper Sandusky to Gilbert and Gertrude (Burks) Thiel, both deceased. On Oct. 23, 1954, she married Warren F. Kalb, who died Aug. 2, 1981.

Surviving are daughter Debbie (Scott) Orians and son Mark D Kalb, both of Bucyrus; grandchildren Sandra N. (Mark D.) Kinyon of Columbus, Marcus S. Orians and Andrew D. Kalb, both of Bucyrus; brother Jerry (Norma) Thiel of Upper Sandusky; and sister Madeline (John) Bixler, formerly of Findlay and now of Leesburg, Fla.
Martha graduated class of 1948, Upper Sandusky High School, and was an aide at Rosewood Manor and Heartland, was a cook at Maplecrest, the Brown Derby, The Sandwich Shoppe, and was a product demonstrator at Wal-Mart, retiring in 2003.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church; an adviser for 4-H; founder of Spoons and Spools 4-H Club; a Brownie leader; volunteer at Contact; Council on Aging Advisory Committee; AARP consultant; on the board of elections; Parents Without Partners of Galion; and the Women of the Moose, Bucyrus Chapter 741; and enjoyed helping people.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. A rosary service will be at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Church with the Rev. Ronald E. LeJeune as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to CONTACT of Crawford County or Holy Trinity Church.
