Born in Flint on February 22, 1949, he came to Gladwin County in 1971 from Bay City. Mr. Miller was a construction worker. He was a Vietnam veteran, member of the Masonic Lodge No. 404 and was a T-ball Little League manager for the Ashcraft team in Clare. Mr. Miller was married to the former Diane Winkler on October 28, 1968, in Bay City.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Michael and David, at home; his father, Thomas H. Miller Sr. of Harrison; his grandfather, James Lent of Pinconning; 4 brothers, Jerry of Iron Mountain, James of Pinconning, Roger of Gladwin, and Ronald of Alaska; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Peggy Cooper and Mrs. Jean Ann Brisette, both of Pinconning and Janet Wheeler of Linwood.
Services were held today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Donald Bates officiated and burial was in the McClure Cemetery. A Masonic memorial service was held at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Gladwin County Record dated 06-08/1983 Column - 4 Page - 2

Lester E. Guiles

BENZONIA - Lester E. Guiles, 81, of Flushing and Benzonia, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 5, 2010. He was born on Jan. 10, 1929, in Pontiac, to John William and Beatrice Arden (Owen) Guiles.

Lester served in the United States Marine Corps.

After returning home, he met and married the 'love of his life,' Mazallia Caroline Duford on May 1, 1948.

Lester retired from GM Truck and Bus, Flint, Local 598 in 1978 with 30 years of service as a millwright.

After retirement, Lester and Zella moved to Benzonia, returning two years ago to Flushing.

Lester is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mazallia; three children, Eugene (Sherry) Guiles of Clio, Zella Ann (Greg) Smith of Flint and David Guiles of Fenton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Mary) Guiles and Robert (Sharron) Guiles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 3 p.m., at Son Life Wesleyan Church, Benzie Boulevard, Beulah. Pastor Ken Blair will officiate.
