Walter Lee Garrison was a Farmer/ Carpenter/ Painter.4 Walter Lee Garrison, 64, route eight, died at 6:12 p.m. Saturday at the Huntington county hospital of injuries and shock suffered Friday morning in a 16 foot fall from a plank on which he and a nephew, John Garrison, Andrews, were painting the Francis Myers house on the old state road east of Andrews.

A rung oin a ladder broke, turning the plank sideways and pitching Mr.. Garrison to the ground below. The nephew escaped a fall and took the injured man to the county hospital as soon as possible. There it was found that he had sufferd three broken ribs and was in severe shock from the fall and broken ribs.

Mr. Garrison's condition grew worse Saturday and his death followed in the evening. Dr. G. M. Nie, county coroner, was summoned following the death, to conduct an inquiry and determine officially the cause of death.

The body was taken to the Bailey funeral home.

Mr. Garrison was born March 15, 1885, in Howard county, to David and Frances Wanely, and was married October 19, 1908, to Bertha Hull. He lived practically all his life in Huntington county, and at the time of his death resided in the first house east of state road 105 on the south side of U.S. 24. He worked as a farmer, carpenter and painter.

Edward John Garrison was a Carpenter.4 Edward J. Garrison, 75, a resident of Andrews for the last 20 years, took his own life by hanging some time Monday afternoon, according toa coroner's report filed by Dr. T. W. Omstead, this city.

Mr. Garrison, who reportedly had been in failing health for some time, had resided for the last nine months at the home of a son, John Garrison, 63 McKeever street. The body was discovered about 3:20 p.m. Monday by a granddaughter, Mrs. Sandra Minniear, and was taken to the Huntington county hospital by the family. Sheriff Harry Divelbiss, acting as deputy coroner in the absence of Dr. Grover M. Nie, authorized Dr. Omstead to sign the coroner's certificate.

Mr. Garrison was born September 9, 1878 to David W. and Frances Whinery Garrison. He was married in 1900 at Marion to Junette Bobock, who died October 14, 1951. He was a retired painter and carpenter, and had moved into Andrews about 20 years ago from a farm north of that town. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Andrews.

Mr. Garrison is survived by five sons, Harry, John and James of Andrews, Hershel of this city and George, address unknown.

Lifelong resident of the Andrews area, Mrs. Bertha Garrison, 74, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the home of her son, Paul E. Garrison, Rt. 2, Andrews, where she had resided the last six years. She had been ill the last four years.

She was born Janurary 14, 1889, in Andrews to Milton E. and Flora Enyeart Hull. She married Walter L. Garrison October 19, 1907, in Huntington County. The husband is dead.

Mrs. Garrison was a member of the Andrews Methodist Church, the Philathea Sunday School Class and the WSCS of the church.

Surviving are five sons, Kenneth W. Garrison of Rt.. 9 Huntington; Delano D. Garrison of Andrews; Paul E. Garrison and Milton E. Garrison, both of Rt.. 2 Andrews, and Charles L. Lawrence Walter Garrison, 16, son of Walter and Bertha Garrison, of near Andrews, died at 5 o'clock Friday morning at the home of his parents after an illness of two weeks.

The boy was born May 14, 1918, in Andrews, and was a sophomore in the Andrews high school.

Surviving are the parents, five brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Kenneth W. Garrison, Edgar M Garrison, Delano D. Garrison, Paul Eugene Garrison, and Charles Lee Garrison. Sisters are Ella Frances Garrison amd Esther Mae Garrison.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Monday morning at the residence with the Rev. J.J. Bare, pastor of the Andrews Christian church, officiating and interment will be in the Riverside cemetery at Andrews.

Milton Edgar Garrison, 80, Peru, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday (June 28, 2005) at his home. He was born April 10, 1925 in Huntington County, to Walter Lee and Bertha Hull Garrison. His first marriage was to Phyllis J. Cocklin; she preceded him in death. His second marriage was to Anna Katherine Hoagland in Rochester on Oct. 28, 1967; she survives.

He retired from General Tire in Wabash in 1983 after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Wabash Christian Heritage Church. He had lived in rural Wabash for several years before moving to Peru in December of 1999.

Also surviving are a daughter, Angela Dawn Pearson, Huntington; son, Robin Arthur Garrison, Auburn; brother, Charles Garrison, Huntington; three stepdaughters, Kim Raderstorf, Macy, Paula Isley, Peru, and Christine Whitney, Roann; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Garrison, a grandson, and several brothers and sisters.

Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Preferred memorials are to Wabash-Miami Home Healthcare and Hospice.

John Pattin Dennis was a Farmer.4 James P. Dennis was born in Ann Arbor May 8, 1830, and died March 18, 1913, aged 81 years, His father, James Dennis Sr., died when he was 8 years old. He lived with his mother, Sally Carl Dennis until he was 11 years old, when he went to live with his uncle, Samuel Carl, near Lansing, until 16 years of age, then with his mother, who had married Paul Otis, and lived north of Dansville until he was married.

He married Abagal Garrison Aug 5, 1848. To them were born 11 children. Five have passed on before, three in infancy, Alvin at 6 years and Warren at 20. Those still living are Joel of Nebraska, Mrs. Albert Simons, Mrs. Chauncey Simons, Mrs. J. Wolcott, Mrs. Walter Squires and Harvey Dennis. Since their marriage they have always lived in Ingham township.

As steward and trustee he helped to build the Methodist Protestant church, and had always been interested in all services held in that building. He had been a member of the Odd Fellow order for over a score of years. He has two own brothers and two half sisters living. One, Mrs. Anna Sedwick of Okemos is able to be present. The other, Mrs.Benjamin Coleson, lives near Munith, but is very sick at the present time. The testimony of these few hours since his death, in acts of sympathy, tell us the respect that his neighbors had for their departed friend.
