William N. Dennis, Sr., was born on 12 September 1880 in Chase, Lake, Michigan.1 He and Theodora (Dora) Mary Neal were married on 25 December 1902 in Wisner, Tuscola, Michigan.1 He died on 29 September 1964, at age 84, in Bay City, Bay, Michigan.1 He was buried in Demorest Cemetery, Akron, Tuscola, Michigan.2
William N. Dennis, Sr., was also known as William N. Dennis. According to Grace Noad, William had no middle name. He was a farmer when he and Dory were first married but eventually went to work for Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan. A job from which he retired and the two of them moved to a small place in Gladwin, where they stayed until Dory died in 1954. Then he moved in with his oldest daughter and her husband, Ida and John Goss.

When he and Dory were married his application at the Caro County Courthouse listed his occupation as farmer. They were married by Rev. Savadren ?. Witnesses were S.J. Neal and Maud Neal.

He is survived by his wife Connie of 33 years, daughters Wendy (John) Beckett, Teresa (Kenneth) Peterson, sons Terry (Tracy), Jerry, Gary, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his parents Oakley and Elaine Thornton and sister Karen (Bob) Nichols.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Mason, with military honors at the cemetery.
