WINTERMUTE, JOACHIM (JOCHEN) PAUL, beloved son and brother, devoted father, truest friend, left us unexpectedly and far too soon of natural causes on December 31, 2011 in Portland, Oregon. Jochen was born April 23, 1973 in State College, PA and moved to Maryland with his family in 1976. He graduated from Severna Park High School in 1991 and Anne Arundel Community College in 1999, before beginning his adventurous tour of life exploring and relishing the natural wonders of our country. He settled in his own Eden of Portland, Oregon and has lived there since 1999. We are comforted by the many friends who have shared their stories of how Jochen touched their lives in the lowest times and helped them find paths to happier places, sharing his wisdom and means with everyone he met. He could only ever see the world as a beautiful and wonderous place.
He loved music and nature, his pets, and most of all, his two sons, Forrest and Griffin Wintermute, twins, age 8. Jochen is also survived by his wife, Katie Harrison Wintermute, of Portland, his parents Ed and Beth Wintermute of Arnold, MD, his sisters, Cathy Hollerbach and her husband Pete, of Annapolis, Karen Keough and her husband Le, of Austin, TX, and Jessica Gold and her husband, Dave, of New Market, MD, his grandmother, Helen Cosgrove of State College, PA, five nieces, Rebecca and Caroline Hollerbach, Kelsey Richards, and Lilly Gold, and Raegan Keough and four nephews, Seth Richards, Mark Hollerbach, Andrew Gold and Ryan Keough and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. We will all try our best to maintain his lust for life every day.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on January 28 at 9:30 at St Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD 21401 An educational fund for his twin boys has been set up through Wells Fargo Bank to accept donations, listed under Forrest and Griffin Wintermute.
"I believe there are two sides to the phenomenon known as death, this side where we live, and the other side where we shall continue to live. Eternity does not start with death. We are in eternity now." ~ Norman Vincent Peale ~
