He was born May 20, 1924 in rural Davis County to Rufus Guy and Mabel Rose Kenworthy Hardy.

Tom graduated from Bloomfield High School, attended the University of Iows and eventually became the sixteenth Post Master of the Bloomfield Post Office. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W. ll, was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church, Reed-Whisler Post 78 of American Legion of Bloomfield and a former Rotary Club member.

He is survived by two brothers, William B. Hardy of Bondbrook, N.J., and Horace Guy Hardy of Lakewood, Ohio, and seven nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister Mary Elizabeth Zirkelback.

Graveside funeral service will he held at 10:30 a.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with the Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Miliatary rites will be conducted by Reed Whisler Post 78 of the American Legion.

Roger Range Wintermute, Sr., was an Editor in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.2 Roger Wintermute, 68, died Wednesday, Dec. 19th, at Hospice of the Valley. He left us after a 15 month battle with lung cancer. He was born in Friend, NE, and served in the Navy before becoming an editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer. he also owned Bee Printing in Wellingboro, NJ. He married the former Margaret Funk, with whom he had five children. He resided in Phoenix for the last 20 years, and was an editor at the Arizona Republic before retiring after 17 years. During his tenure at The Republic he was revered for his ability to consistently ensure the news was objective, accurate and grammatically correct. Roger truly had "ink in his blood" and was an inspiration and mentor to everyone who worked for him. His many loyal friends and family affectionally regarded hiom as a brillant eccentric. Among other interests, he enjoyed photography, computers, bargain-hunting and gardening. He is survived by his former wife,Margaret, children Elizabeth (Jack) Wilson, Mark, Virginia (Allan) Pollard, Roger Jr. (Dawn) and 11 grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by parents, older sister, Carol, and his son, Robert. Surviving siblings are Dick, Leslie, Florea and Gary, all of Nebraska. A private memorial is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
