Elizabeth "Betty" W. Read, 93, of Blairstown, died at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Born: In Blairstown, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Levina VanKirk Read. Personal: Ms. Read was a homemaker and had lived in Blairstown all her life. Memberships: She was a member of Blairstown United Methodist Church and a former member of the Vail Grange. Survivors: Ms. Read is survived by her loving family, a sister Helen Gladd of Jacksonburg, Blairstown Township; and several nieces and nephews. Services: A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 8 at Blairstown United Methodist Church, 10 Stillwater Road, Blairstown, under the direction of the Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Rt. 94, Blairstown. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to either Blairstown United Methodist Church, 10 Stillwater Road, Blairstown, NJ 07825 or Blairstown Ambulance Corps, PO Box 389, Blairstown, NJ 07825.

David Robert Gladd, 90, of Blairstown died July 18, 2008 at the Forest Manor Care Center in Frelinghuysen Township.
Born in Brooklyn, he was a son of the late David E. and Mae Skow Gladd.
Mr. Gladd graduated from Belvidere High School in 1936 and was a retired inspector with the New Jersey Highway Department. He served on the Board of Education for Blairstown High School.
He was a past president of Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Blairstown and a past master of the Vail Grange. Mr. Gladd was a former member of the Men's Club at the First United Methodist Church of Blairstown.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Robert, in 1997.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Helen Read Gladd; a grandson, Jerold of Blairstown; a granddaughter, Julie Hengle, and a step-grandson, Andrew Songer, both of Ohio; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held July 26 at the First United Methodist Church. Interment was in Cedar Ridge Cemetery.
