SNOVER FUNERAL WILL BE HELD TOMORROW

Services for Kermit L. Snover, 45, found dead in his room at the Europa Hotel Wednesday, will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Franklin-Sovern & Downs Funeral home.
Snover, hotel janitor, died of hemorrhage of the lungs, according to J. K. Ransom, county coroner. The deceased had lived in Modesto for 43 years. He was born in California.
He leaves seven brothers and sisters, Arthur and John Snover, both of Modesto, Ray and LaFatra Snover, both of Lodi, Stella Snover and Mrs. Ruth Long, both of San Francisco and Mrs. Margaret Martin of Oakland.
Rev. Donald G. Weston will officiate and interment will be in the family plot, Modesto Cemetery.

He served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and two years in the U.S. Reserves. He was an insurance agent for State Auto and Ohio Casualty Insurance for a number of years. He also owned and operated C.A. Smith TV-Appliance. In later years he worked for both Dean Bennett and Keith Bluhm as an electronic technician. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Dorothy Warburton; his daughter and her husband, Raymonda and Douglas Barnhart of Apalachin, N.Y.; two sons, Avery D. Smith of Endicott, N.Y. and Dana W. Smith, also of Endicott; three grandsons whom he loved dearly, Aaron and Bryant Barnhart of Apalachin and Codi Smith of Johnson City, N.Y.; a sister, Genevieve Cronk of Washington, D.C.; three cousins, Mrs. Jack (Betsy) Reynolds of Fairdale, Pa., Edward Stone of Smithville Flats, N.Y. and Claudia Sommerlund of Cedar Falls, Iowa. It was Avery’s request that there be no viewing or funeral. A graveside service will be held for the family at their convenience. Biography

Claudia M. Sommerlund, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. She was born January 24, 1920 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Claude and Ethel (Devereaux) Stone. Claudia served in the U.S. Army during WW II. She married William Sommerlund on March 24, 1950 in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2000.

She is survived by her son, Paul Sommerlund, of Cedar Falls, and a step brother, Ed Stone. Claudia was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Graveside services will be held at a later date. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Elizabeth M. Wintermute, 56, wife of Joseph M. Wintermute, died Saturday night, June 26, in the Easton Hospital where she had been a patient since last Tuesday. She had been ill for several weeks.

Mrs. Wintermute was a teacher in the second grade in Blairstown Public School and had been active in community life. She was a member of Blair Chapter 179, Order of Eastern Star, the Vail Grange No. 211 and Blairstown Methodist Church.

Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Herman Shotwell of Vail; a sister, Mrs. W. Flock Read, of Blairstown; two brothers, Lemuel Van Kirk and James Van Kirk both of Delaware, and one grandson.

Mrs. Wintermute was the daughter of Mrs. George Van Kirk, of Blairstown, and the late Mr. Van Kirk. She has resided in the vicinity of Blairstown most of her life.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Newbaker Funeral Home with the Rev. John Lytle, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Blairstown.

She was a member of the Warren Chapter 128 Order of the Easton Star. Her husband James G., died Dec 3 1990.
She is survived by a brother, Clyde Stopp of Hope, N.J. a sister, Verna Gregg of Asbury, and several nieces and nephews.
