Clyde Mapes, Millington, Accidently Killed by Campanion

Clyde Mapes, aged 25, of Millington, was instantly killed while hunting rabbits near Murphy's Lake, when, a shot gun in the hands of one of his companions was accidently discharged, blowing off Mape's head. Mapes was digging out a rabbit which had been driven into a hole when another man in the party shouted, "there goes a rabbit" and fired just as Mapes raised his head. The dead man is survived by his wife and two children.

Lenna I. Cummings, age 95, of Columbus, Ohio passed away August 30, 2013. She was born May 14, 1918 in Millington, Michigan to the late Clyde and Helen Mapes; also preceded in death by her husband Arthur Cummings, son Michael Cummings and brother Archie Mapes. Lenna attended Northwood Business College. She used her business skills as an executive secretary in the construction and health care industries. While living in Florida, she ran her own cosmetics business and co-owned a printing business with her husband. After retirement she was a member of the Reynoldsburg Senior Center. She was an avid reader, bridge player, patron of the Balletmet and loved to sing. Lenna's kind spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, L. Diane Groszko; grandchildren, G. Garrett Groszko of San Francisco, Michael B. Groszko of Miami Beach; Kimberly and Kriss Cummings of Canal Winchester; special friend, Sandra Cummings of Canal Winchester; great-grandchildren, Tyler West and Taylor Cummings; niece, LeeAnn (Paul) Becker; nephews, Ken (Diane) Trask and Gregory (Patty) Mapes. Per Lenna's wishes, there will be no public services. Cremation entrusted to SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL.
