He was born in Grayville in 1918, the son of Dan F. and Mary (Williams) Groff. Paul married the late Marcella Ankley-Snover in 1944. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He is the dear father of Michael and Martie Groff of Tolland, Conn., Mary and John McClary of Orchard Lake, Mich., Becky and Neil Riedel of La Mesa, Calif., Dee and Mike Martinez of Royal Oak, Mich., Julie Porter of La Mesa, Chris and Jeff Crockett of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Nancy Garza of San Diego.
Other survivors include his sister, Margaret Spencer of Grayville, and her brother, Gene Groff of Norman, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Harold D. Groff and Jerry A. Groff; and his sister, Helen Groff Sager.
Visitation and a memorial service are Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and continues until memorial service time at 11 am. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.
