An early-day resident of Huron, George M. Cool, 83, died Jan. 14 in Eureka, Calif.
Cool was born Jan. 3, 1881, in Huron, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel S. Cool who then resided at 719 Wisconsin Ave. S.W. He was a barber and was employed in Huron, Miller and other towns in the state before moving to California.
Survivors include his widow, Betty; one daughter, Mrs. Alma Anderson, Brownsburg, Ind.; one son Tays, San Diego; three grandchildren; nephew, John F. Cool, Redfield; and two nieces, Mrs. Katherine Loesch, Redfield, and Mrs. H.B. Rae, Torrington, Wyo.

Tays Douglas Cool, 73, of Rancho Palos Verdes, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born June 7, 1929 in Santa Paula, to George Miller Cool and Elizabeth Alma Tays Cool, and spent his early years in Ojai.
He entered the Army in 1946, serving in Korea. Upon returning from his tour of duty, he attended Ventura Junior College and San Diego State University.
He founded Cool Fuel Incorporated and Cool Transports of San Diego in 1972, moving the company to Paramount in 1977. Last year, he completed the design and building of a new card lock, truck maintenance shop and office building. The corporate offices recently moved into this state-of-the-art facility at 7201 Rosecrans.
Mr. Cool's interests included flying his King Air, playing dominoes at the "P" club, watching boxing matches and cruising in the Prevost.
He is survived by his wife, Becky; sister Alma Kay Anderson-Jero; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces.
